If you are a serious amateur athlete who does cross-fit or similar types of HIIT exercise, most likely you are focusing on a Paleo diet (read “eating plan”). In case you don’t know what ‘paleo’ is, here’s a quick definition:
Pa·le·o di·et
ˈpeɪlioʊ ˌdīət/, noun
a diet based on the types of foods presumed to have been eaten by early humans, consisting chiefly of meat, fish, vegetables, and fruit, and excluding dairy or grain products and processed food.
“I’ve recently started the Paleo diet and have also given up caffeine”
The Paleo diet is an eating plan that is often linked to Cross-Fit style workouts. These high-intensity interval workouts are “functional exercises” that require specific nutrition to facilitate the muscle build-up along with the “leaning” of the body (shedding fat). A paleo-type eating plan provides nutritional support via significant amounts of protein along with minimizing sugar and carbs.
EAT:
Grass-produced meats
Fish/seafood
Fresh fruits and veggies
Eggs
Nuts and seeds
Healthful oils (Olive, walnut, flaxseed, macadamia, avocado, coconut)
DON’T EAT:
Cereal grains
Legumes (including peanuts)
Dairy
Refined sugar
Potatoes
Processed foods
Salt
Refined vegetable oils
It’s low on processed foods, carbs in the form of cereal and grains, and no sugar. It’s a ‘back-to-basics’ “clean” eating plan that provides those engaged in Cross-Fit or other HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workouts with the energy to perform their intense daily workout.

What is Power Supply?:
The four founders — Patrick Smith, Jeff Kelley, Robert Morton, and Josh Kriger came together around a simple conviction… that there’s gotta be a better way to consistently eat really well and fuel your life without boring your tastebuds into a stupor or discovering that there are in fact more than 24 hours in a day.
Power Supply mission:
What if?”, said we…you could find a way to…
–get people the great food of all the different talented chefs doing their thing in a super simple experience that starts online and ends with freaking great food for your whole week, right in front of you
–and not just any food, but real food… that’s as good for you as it is tasty
–And “What if?” along the way you could build an organization capable of making a real difference on issues you hold dear like transparency, sustainability, philanthropy and life balance?
Thus was born Power Supply and the community of independent chef talents that makes our variety and taste-loving engine go for active folks who want to eat really well, really easily. So they can focus more on all the other stuff they love doing.
What Power Supply Brings to YOUR Table: (in their own words)
What’s different about Power Supply?
We speak for the taste buds. Seriously, geeky Lorax reference aside, we think your taste buds are made happiest by food that’s crafted close by, in smaller batches by multiple chefs interpreting great recipes. And happy taste buds from responsibly sourced food that’s also really good for you means performing better… a beautiful thing whether in body, mind or both.
So instead of stamping out huge quantities of meals from a giant kitchen somewhere and trucking them all over, we’re working with talented local chefs to bring you a great variety of tasty prepared meals, cooking styles and other food goodies – all dreamed up locally and giving back to the community. And all brought to you in the simplest, effort-free way we can think of.

Want to get to the “meat” of this post? (Pun intended!)
Recently, I was invited to have a sit-down with a new ‘farm to table’ meal delivery company at a luncheon held at a private home in Venice, Ca. They included the menu and a bit of information about POWER SUPPLY food delivery service.
Food was prepared by Pete’s Paleo Head Chef: Pete Servold. .
Buffet line:
Guests included several media people (freelance, bloggers, staff writers), the Power Supply team, former triathlete, author and Paleo Diet enthusiast Mark Sisson along with several Cross-Fit/paleo diet fans– some of whom are using the POWER SUPPLY food delivery service. We were served many of Pete’s signature paleo dishes while listening to the chef’s expert advice on healthy eating and why now is the time to go paleo!
The key point of the luncheon was to serve food prepared by Pete’s Paleo that would be the same dishes he would ship out via Power Supply. Here’s what we had:
Appetizer:
Peruvian drumfish ceviche with purple potato, yams, salsa fresca and yucca chips
Soup:
Puree of golden beets with spicy pecans and chive oil
Salads:
Kale, pickled onions, bacon lardons with paleo ranch dressing
Roasted winter vegetables with shallots and aged balsamic (rutabaga, turnips, squash, celery root and chioggia beets
Entree:
Duck confit salad with radicchio, fennel, radish and blood orange
Meeting and talking with the Power Supply team was great. I learned a lot about paleo food and how easy it is to incorporate a paleo diet into your life. A little more than half of the guests were Cross-Fit people who also followed a paleo diet and they were eager to share how it had changed their life (along with their workouts)!
When I left, I walked away with a tote bag with a paleo meal from one of the chefs in the Power Supply network. It was pulled pork with a veggie medley. I had it the next day and found that it was a rather large portion that I split between my partner and I. The meal was really tasty.
What I learned about Power Supply is :
–Their delivery service makes following a paleo eating plan a snap.
–One can change up the number of meals they get weekly.
–The menu looks tempting, the food tastes great and the portions are substantial.
–It helps to have a delivery service like this when you are short on time and need to get a meal on the table.
–Even children will eat the meals.
