Once a core ingredient in most classic cocktails, absinthe was banned in the United States for 95 years. Following efforts by research scientist turned distiller T. A. Breaux, the ban was repealed in 2007, and Lucid Absinthe Supérieure became the first authentic absinthe to be legally sold in the US.
Here are 3 different recipes including the winning cocktail for 2017! And they all look amazing!!
2017 Lucid Absinthe Cocktail Classique Champion – Sogni D’Oro

Ingredients:
¾ oz. Lucid Absinthe Supérieure
1½ oz. Pineapple Juice
1 oz. Borghetti Espresso Liqueur
1 oz. Dark Jamaican Rum (Coruba)
1 Bar Spoon Coconut Nectar
Preparation:
Add all ingredients and ice to shaker.
Shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled (roughly 15 seconds).
Double strain into a glass tea or coffee glass,
Garnish with grated cinnamon.
Lucid Frappe
INGREDIENTS
1 oz Lucid Absinthe
0.5 oz simple syrup
6-8 fresh mint leaves
1 oz soda water
PREPARATION
Muddle 6-8 mint leaves and simple syrup in a tall glass.
Add crushed ice, pour in Lucid Absinthe, cover with a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
Top with soda water.
Bloody Fairy
Preparation:
Replace vodka in your favorite spicy Bloody Mary with 1 oz Lucid Absinthe…
Even if you only try one of these, you might want to nibble on something. I asked the brand’s representative and she suggested seafood– especially OYSTERS!!
This is what was served in New Orleans for an Absinthe brand event:
oysters served with a dash of Absinthe and then lit!
This is easy enough if you get them from a fish monger or a supermarket with oysters and ask them to open the oysters and leave them intact!
These cocktails sound so terrific that I really want to try something this weekend. Given the weather, it’s perfect timing!
