Stepping Up to Softer Feet With Helpful At-Home Products!
When you are on your feet as much as you are, you need to be good to your feet. Particularly since it’s summer, with toes exposed, you need to take more care with them. While we wish we could have pedicures every week (huge sigh), that’s definitely not an option. But there are products that you can use at home to give your toes that same spa quality that you adore. After all, soft great looking feet are what it’s all about when you are wearing flip flops and strappy sandals!
Pedicure tools have been covered –lightly yes, but these are such fabulous tools that you should have at least one of them. (get that Foot File!!) But tools are not enough to get those silky soft feet that you aspire to have. There are some cool creams, scrubs and masque type products that will help smooth and soften your feet and make you feel like buying new sandals just to show them off.
Callus Terminator by Mr Pumice is a great product that makes you wonder why no one has come up with it before . It’s a great cream that contains aloe, hydrolized wheat protein, hydrolized collagen, vitamin E, peppermint oil and some other "special ingredients" that will help slough off calluses in nothing flat. Spread the Callus Terminator cream liberally all over your feet for about 3-5 minutes. Wipe off excess cream and then pick up your pumice stone or file and rub gently to remove calluses. This is an awesome product because it makes quick work of calluses and leaves you with much softer, smoother feet! (www.mrpumice.com or 800.783.9969)
Scrubs are great as an "all over" exfoliator of dead skin on feet particularly on areas where you can’t use a pumice or a file. Barielle’s Pedi-Scrub Foot Smoother can be used on more than just feet. Try it on hands and legs too. This apricot shell pumice-infused cream is scented with menthol and peppermint to re-invigorate feet (and you!). It also re-hydrates skin with algae extract, eucalyptus oil and aloe vera. It doesn’t take a lot to get this cream doing its job. It smells fab and it’s definitely a great overall scrub that will have your feet feeling toe-tapping fabulous.( Barielle.com or 800.790.8884)

Another amazing Barielle product is the Rejuvenating Foot Treatment with AHA’s in the cream. This cream will walk all over those creases, calluses and dry skin and make them a faint memory. Lavender Oil, lemon peel oil and vitamin A make a luscious combination with glycolic and alpha hydroxy acids to restore feet to baby-like softness and smoothness. It hydrates while it repairs and can help control excess perspiration too! (Barielle.com or 800.790.8884)
Barielle’s Total Foot Care Cream is the winner of the 2003 & 2004 Editor’s Choice award from Allure Magazine. This cream contains no acids, peelers or camphor ingredients but will help soften, eliminate calluses and helps heal chapped areas of the feet. With natural ingredients like sunflower oil, vitamin E, glycerin, parafin beeswax and lanolin, this product is sure to get those who need a softer, gentler touch in creams. If you happen to like the girlie stuff–and I certainly do– fragrance and texture are just as important as effectiveness. And once you use these other products and get those feet in stellar dancing shape, you need merely keep them that way. You need lush, intensive, yummy creams to do that. Jaqua’s Best Foot Forward will have you doing just that– putting the best looking toes and heels out there on display for everyone to see. With grape, kiwi and honey extracts to keep calluses from getting started, this cream is a real winner. The chai latte scent will keep you coming back for more! (Sephora.com and Nordstrom.com)
For super-serious creams for super-sad feet, you need to go to the doctor.. as in Dr. Howard Sobel, creator of Doctor’s Dermatologic Formula or DDF! DDF’s Pedi Cream is serious business for those with seriously troubled feet. With 18% (!) glycolic acid, there’s nothing about your feet that’s going to scare this cream! It’s got more muscle to tackle the cracked heels, calluses and corns. Shea butter, spearmint and menthol keep feet soft, moisturized and smelling good. (drugstore.com )
