It’s summer time and you want something unique to drink. Skip the super-sweet cocktails, that just spins your head too fast with the heat. Instead let’s talk about “sipping” cocktails (rather than slurping them down like Kool-Ade) .
Rather than doing a vodka or tequila mix– or even gin, think about cognac. Not just any cognac but Hennessy Cognac . You might wonder why I specify this brand (besides that I like it), it’s a high-end brand that has a smooth taste on the tip of the tongue and an even smoother finish while allowing complex flavors to open up much like a fine wine does. It should because this brand of cognac
has been aged and blended much like many fine wines.

Cognac as a base for cocktails provides a complex savory taste that works well as a counterpoint to sweet mixes or can be used with more neutral flavors to help create a unique blend for a cocktail. It’s less sweet and more complex so it allows the flavors to develop and the actual taste of each cocktail tends to evolve a bit over time.
Hennessy Ginger
1 ½oz. Hennessy
1 dash of angostura bitters (optional)
top with ginger ale
Serve in a highball glass filled with ice.
Hennessy Sidecar
1 oz. Hennessy
½oz. Grand Marnier
½oz. fresh lemon juice
Shake and strain in a sugar-rimmed cocktail glass.
(this is a nifty drink– very pretty to look at and great to drink!)
Hennessy Mojito
1 ½oz. Hennessy
¾oz. fresh lime juice
¾oz. simple syrup
8-10 fresh mint leave
Muddle ingredients in a highball glass, fill with ice and stir
Finish with a splash of soda water
The perfect summer-time refreshment for sipping is the Mojito!!
Hit your major fine liquor establishment and get a bottle of Hennessy or if you are hitting a dinner house or a cocktail lounge, think about asking for Hennessy Cognac as the spirit in your cocktail!!
