12 Drinks of Christmas!: Day 5 Brings on New Drinks!! Break Out the Glasses and Maestro Dobel Diamond Tequila!

It’s not often I become enchanted by a tequila– typically there is a bite and sometimes that bite “bites back” harder than I would like. Recently I was introduced to a real gentleman of a tequla: smooth, elegant and whispers rather than shouts– which makes it a super smooth, even sexy drink. I considered it to be a sipping tequila –which I “never” sip and now found that it does so much more than just be a sipping spirit.

Complexity: The incredible complexity of Maestro Dobel stems from the incredible array of differently aged tequilas in the blend: Reposado (rested 15 months), Anejo (rested 24 months), and Extra-Anejo (rested for 36 months).
Craftsmanship: Juan Dobel has enlisted the Tequila Maestros – Marco Anguiano and Luis Yerenas – to create the special blend for Dobel. Every step of the process is crafted by hand – from the harvesting of the agave to the blending of the tequilas.
Crispness: The agave selected for Maestro Dobel grows in the volcanic lowlands of the Jalisco region, producing a tequila with lighter herbal and citrus aromas. This hand-selected agave, combined with the tequila’s double distillation in post stills creates an exceptionally crisp tequila.

Crafty Maestro
1 red bell pepper ring 1/2″ thick
8-10 mint leaves
2 oz Maestro Dobel Tequila
¾ oz lime juice
¾ oz simple syrup
In a pint glass, muddle bell pepper ring and mint. Add all spirits and mixers. Shake vigorously for six seconds. Strain in cocktail glass. To garnish, drop a bell pepper ring in cocktail glass and a mint sprig.

Dobel Spicy Chill — for that contrast of heat and chill this is an awesome cocktail.

4 basil leaves
1 Serrano chili slice 1/4″ thick
2 oz Maestro Dobel Tequila
¾oz lime juice
¾ oz simple syrup
In a pint glass, crack the chili with a muddler. Add basil, then muddle or bruise. Add all spirits and mixers. Shake and strain in a cocktail glass. Garnish with a Serrano chili slice and a basil sprig.
