Day 2 of 12 Drinks of Christmas: Spirited Holiday Cocktail Recipes Courtesy of Sass Ashe

There are many traditional cocktails and holiday punches that we’ve all enjoyed for generations, but sometimes those traditional cocktails can use a little shaking up! The following recipes are my tried and true new holiday favorites- each has been personally tested by myself and has been served at gatherings over the past few holiday seasons.

While traditional mulled wine, cider and eggnog drinks are nice, sometimes you just want something different for your holiday, these recipes shake things up a bit and will leave you and your guests with plenty of holiday spirit!

Abominable Snow-tini

I can’t remember where I got this recipe but it’s a great one and deserves to be passed along. First thing’s first- make sure you have whipped cream on hand- it really makes this cocktail perfect!

Mix in shaker with ice :

1 oz. Absolut Vanilla Vodka (this stuff is delicious!)

1/2 oz. each of:
Jameson Irish Whiskey,
Rumplemintz,
Kahlua French Vanilla,
Butterscotch Schnapps

1 oz. Half and Half

Rim martini glass with sugar and place a dollop of whipped cream in the bottom. Pour the shaken cocktail into the glass and the whipped cream will rise to the top. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon and enjoy!!!

Santa’s Sleigh

Sandra Lee from the Food Network published this recipe- it is delicious and I’m not even a fan of eggnog!

Rim 4 martini glasses with coarse white sugar

Pull out your blender and add:

2 cups chilled store-bought eggnog

1/2 cup each of brandy and amaretto liqueur

2 scoops of vanilla ice cream

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Blend until smooth and pour into the prepared glasses, garnish with a cinnamon stick and let the good times roll!

Christmas Punch

This Martha Stewart recipe is perfect for a large gathering and for those who don’t like their alcohol mixed with creamy stuff.

Freeze fresh cranberries in ice cubes made of orange juice (2-3 trays)

Combine in punch bowl:

2 Cups chilled pomegranate juice

1 Cup chilled cranberry juice

8 oz each of vodka and cointreau

1 cup chilled club soda

1/2 cup fresh lemon juice

1/2 cup simple syrup

You can add the orange cranberry ice cubes to the punch bowl or individual glasses.

While traditional mulled wine, cider and eggnog drinks are nice, sometimes you just want something different for your holiday, these recipes shake things up a bit and will leave you and your guests with plenty of holiday spirit!
