Teri Hatcher
She is trying too hard!
COLOR:
The white is too light for her coloring and doesn’t complement her deeper skintone instead it does the opposite. Al solid white dress shouldn’t be worn by someone to an award ceremony who is older than mid-twenty. It just doesn’t work. It’s one thing to wear a white kaftan on the beach or a white day dress for private engagements, but it looks wrong to create a ” white fairy dress” or ” wedding dress” look when you are older than than the mid-twenties range.
BODYSHAPE:
The one shoulder detail looks great since she has a long thin neck and also creates a beautiful shape around her bust and décolleté line. Her waistline is nicely fitted and gives her a nice shape around it. The black waistband or belt is placed at the right spot of her body to add curves to her hips.
However from there it’s pretty downhill. Her skirt shape and length do not sit at the right places on her body. It is an exaggerated look and the key is that the start and finish of exaggerated details need to be fitted at the right spots of the body so it doesn’t show up as a messy and shapeless gown.
The added volume on her thighs is just hanging shapelessly in her thigh area without giving her the benefit of curves. The under-skirt is flaring out with no fit to the shape of the dress above or the wearer. The hemline of the dress is far too long: it’s almost as if she has to grow into the dress.
STYLE:
It is crucial for exaggerated looks to get the fit right and especially the hemline of the dresses right, because they provide the frame for the look. Teri ‘s hairstyle is too mumsy for this dress. A soft pulled back hair-style would have been a better choice. It all feels that she is trying too hard.
Overall Rating: 2** Two Stars
Marcia Cross
Again she got everything right in her dress and look.
COLOR:
The black and blue colours work because she wears them not only away from her face with her hair pulled back, but also because her exposed skin creates a beautiful contrast with her hair and dress colours. Plus her hair colour provides a nice colour block to her look . This is very fashion forward .
BODYSHAPE:
Shape and style of the dress are spot on for her shape. Now that she has lost weight she is more of a lean column and needs to create curves to her silhouette. Her asymmetric décolleté line is creating the illusion of roundness and is also given volume by the ruffles near her bust. The corsage provides her with a beautiful silhouette and the style line of the bottom of the corsage adds curves to her shape. The length of her corsage shows off beautifully her long waist and her upper body is in perfect proportion with the drama and length of the skirt of the dress. The flare in her skirt is just right for her shape – not too much that it would overpower her shape or look of the dress-to provide a frame and focus point for her corsage.
STYLE:
This dress is as well a statement that it can be only worn by a tall woman to show off the corsage and not to be overpowered by the skirt in look and volume. The look and feel of the dress is edgy and needs to be worn by a woman like her who is assured in her look and can complement it with her personality. The dress is sexy and figure hugging but also loosely fitted in her leg area. Her hemline is kept at a perfect length so it is not looking inappropriate for her age.
Her soft pulled back hairstyle is a perfect match for this dress. Its’ balanced with a softness, sophistication and gives it a relaxed but confident feel about the wearer of the dress. Marcia’s chosen accessories complement the look and feel of the dress rather competing with it or over doing it. She is truly working the dress!
