I had recently received a few hair products to test out from Neil George—
one is a killer oil that nourishes hair; another is a fabulous root lifter that smells pretty and then a luscious detangler that smells good enough to eat and might actually be edible but we won’t go there.
While I have been trying to wrangle time to meet up with either Amanda George or Neil Weisberg to get some video on the salon and the perspective of creating this new hair line,
MyBeautyBerry.com ran an interview with Neil Weisberg about the salon and the line. So thanks to MBB.com, we are sharing it with you
Neil Weisberg, a Beverly Hills stylist and co-owner of Neil George Salon and co-creator of a fabulous new hair care line- Neil George hair care line- has this to share.
MBB: Ideally, how often should you wash your hair?
NG: Depending on your lifestyle and hair type, you should wash your hair on average every day to every other.
MBB: What is the best way to condition your hair if it is fine? Dry? Thick and Coarse?
NG: The best way to condition fine hair is to avoid the roots, and use a light conditioner through the ends. If your hair is dry, you should use a mask 1-2 per week, as well as a hydrating conditioner. Thick and coarse hair should use a smoothing shampoo such as the Neil George Intense Illuminating Conditioner, paired with a weekly mask— highly recommend our Intense Repair Mask with Indian Gooseberry to maintain color and improve strength!
MBB: Once hair is washed, what is the best way to complete the process… towel dry? wrap hair in a towel? comb thru?
NG: Gently comb through hair with a wide-tooth comb before either air drying or blow drying. Towel drying hair can lead to frizz for certain hair types so you must be careful. If you do towel dry your hair before styling, make sure to make the towel move in one direction instead of moving the hair back and forth.
MBB: Next moving on to styling…Once you begin blow drying, should you immediately start to style your hair for the best end result?
NG: Some experts recommend rough drying the hair first, and then styling; however for the best end result I prefer to begin to style the hair. Begin with the round brush as soon as you start your blow-dry directly from wet hair. Rough drying first without your round brush can lead to frizz if you’re not careful. Be sure to keep the blow-dryer shooting air in one direction to keep the hair cuticles flat and smooth.

MBB: What is the deal with good and bad hair days? Why is it that on certain days during month you can use the same exact hair care products, dry it the same way, but it just doesn’t look as good. Any theory to share?
NG: Good and bad hair days do exist and can be caused by a lot of different elements: weather, stress, and depending on what kind of water you’ve washed your hair with (some water is “hard” which has lots of minerals that can cause buildup).
Beauty Insider: One tip Neil George shared with MBB is that he likes to suggest a water purifier be installed in the shower. It helps to ease styling and remove minerals, which have a tendency to build-up.Have to agree on the water purifier. I have one in my shower- but that’s an entirely different post! So stay tuned for more details on that.
PS.. Any products or even a water purifier would make a great mother’s day or even a bridal gift to take along on a honeymoon. It’s the perfect notion of giving someone a “great hair day”
