Burn Notice Season 3 Premiere Episode: Review of Michael, Fiona & Sam!

All of us at LA-Story.com adore this show– as much for the action but so much more than that is what drives Burn Notice and creates the dynamic popularity of the show’s fanbase.

Whether it’s the “bad a$$/take no prisoners” attitude of Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar), the amazing humor meets “sidekick” of Sam (Bruce Campbell) or the amazing abilities of Michael Westen to be the new “McGyver” ( always teaching you how to become a “citizen spy” with his bag of tricks) with a twisted perspective and background ( Jeffrey Donovan) with additional characters of Madeline, Michael’s mother (Sharon Gless) and his brother Nate (Seth Peterson) as well as a slew of guest stars that will have you wondering where this series is going as it opens up the third season.

Sam and Michael– Best Friends
The season premiere is “Friends and Family” which airs tonight at 9 PM on USA Network
Michael emerges from the water free from interference by the organization that burned him.  He’s not under their protection, either, and is under investigation by the police.
He gets out of prison with help from his old friend, who has a job for him: extraditing a thug who’s displacing landowners in a Latin American country.
I got to preview this and the next two episodes. Here’s my take on this first episode of Season 3

As Michael has jumped out of a helicopter from the finale of Season 2, he swims ashore with the words the “management” that Carla (now dead) had mentioned ringing in his ears. While they want to keep him on the leash, the “management” indicates they have been protecting him from his enemies since he has been burned. Michael’s parting words are he would rather take his chances on his own.
And so he does– immediately hitting the beach, the police are after him and while he’s hiding out in a hotel utility room trying to put together a diversionary tactic, he jimmies a phone call to Fiona and finds out that the police know he’s there in the hotel and he’s been labeled armed and dangerous.
While Michael seems particularly worn out, Fiona is glad he’s still alive and getting Sam into the mix of helping Michael out.
It only gets better — and more complex– from here. Do I want to be a spoiler?
