Continuing this review on the different lash conditioning & building treatments, it’s been interesting to test them out. One of the criteria was to see how long it would take for change to be seen. In some cases I could see some growth in 2 weeks with Marini and Revtalash; in others it took a bit longer but then *pop* suddenly a growth spurt like with Rapidlash!
Talika is a long-standing player in this arena. The formula has been updated and it’s now a larger tube that lasts about a month with the recommended twice a day application. Thanks to the mascara-like brush applicator, it’s a snap to put on and it keeps lashes soft.
Soy Lecithin, nettle, horse chestnut extract and liposomes stimulate eyelash growth. Allantoin, St. John’s wort and apple extract calm and soothe the eye lashes to keep them supple (brittle lashes break)
This is the oldest product in the category and it has been the mainstay for the longest time. (60 years and based in France). There is even clinical testing on this one (and they have a video on it too. )
What I like about this product is that it’s got a very long track record, works well on lashes and eyebrows (in a heartbeat!) and it does work. The hardest thing is to remember to apply twice daily — but it also protects lashes from mascara’s harshness because you can apply this first and then apply mascara. Good thought for that
It’s always been my go-to for longer lashes and I love it. It retails for $40.00 for about a month’s worth of applications.
B Kamins Eyelash Fortifier is a newer product in the category and it’s a very different presentation. This is a gel type product that has an applicator that you twist out the product and apply via your fingertip to dot across your lash line (and brows if you have extra) — and then smooth it across the base of your lashes. A little gel goes a LONG ways– meaning don’t crank out a lot– otherwise you have wasted product. Applying generously won’t improve the results.
The results are based on the consistency of application. It does condition lashes and eyebrows and keeps them supple. It helps stimulate follicle cells to promote hair growth and it’s pH balanced to be non-irritating to eyes. I found it soothing even –but don’t use too much on the lashes at the base because it can get messy. As I said, less is more!
The retail of $90.00 should not surprise you as this is a natural product, provided in a really sanitary dispenser and it works– it does take a while. Look at your lashes 6-8 weeks and then talk to me. I noticed my brows looking better in 3 weeks if that’s any help.
LashFood
This all-natural formula of biotin (essential vitamins) and Arginine (Natural Amino Acids) and Iris extract (Natural Oriental Medicine Complex Extracts) promotes the natural growth of healthy lashes. This product uniquely formulated by cosmetic scientists. Lashfood is a water based product and is designed for both natural and extended lashes.
Lashfood is an all-natural ingredient product that can you longer and thicker lashes. They say darker too but I am not sure about that. My tips were still blonde but definitely longer and were less brittle when I used this product/ I did use this product on my brows and yes those hairs came in darker– so go figure out what’s going on with me. Again, less is more. Don’t apply too much because if it gets into your eyes, it could irritate.
The price tag on this one is at about $99.00. If you find it higher, keep hunting! I found two other sites (drugstore.com for example) that is selling it at the $100.00 mark.
For that price, I am figuring about 8-12 weeks of application. It depends on how much you use it. One review on drugstore.com suggested that for this price, that it was a deal because it had more product than a competitor at the same price. Maybe that will help you select which one to try.
Guess what! I am not done yet. There are at least 3-5 more to review!! Didn’t know there were that many products to build up your lashes. Do make sure to carefully remove all eyemake before applying these products to your eyes!
