Batting a Thousand– Lashes!! Lash Treatments to the Test

Brooke Shields has been on tv a lot lately–via commercials– talking about the problem of sparse lashes. There’s a new product from Allergan that will cure all lash problems called Latisse! While effective it does have some drawbacks:
1) you have to buy it from a doctor or medical aesthetician
2) you must wait 8 weeks for full results
3) it’s a complex application process
4) the price tag is considerable– though the product does work.
5) the package only lasts one month so you have to “refill” every month– and that adds up.
Given that almost everyone is on a tighter budget these days, I have put together an assortment of treatments that are strictly over the counter to talk about how effectivley they work — or don’t. Some go for as little as $15 a bottle and others are $150 per tube.
I would say that you get what you pay for — and if $150 a tube makes longer lashes — and lasts 5-6 months, suddenly the cost per month goes way down.
I have been doing some test-driving on various lash-growing treatments. I did one post earlier and now that I have done several more lash products, here’s what works and doesn’t work so well.
Most of the products do work, however realize that they work only if you remember to use them properly every night. You need to put them at the lash line– though there are a few that are combed on like mascara. I

Jan Marini– this reformulated product is even better than it was originally and has peptides. The tube lasts about six months (close it tightly or you will be sorry!). Put this only at the base of the lash line, be careful not to get it into your eyes. In other words lay down a fine line like liner on top of the lashes– don’t go into between the lashes. In some cases if you do that, it might sting. Nice product and it does work– some people I know had amazing results. I had very good results but I wasn’t always careful about my application!

Rapid Lash is another competitor in this new category of lash treatments. This product is much less expensive than the Marini or Revitalash product but it also doesn’t have 6 months of treatment in a tube either. With careful useage, you can get maybe about 6 weeks– and make sure you apply it only on the lash line. It does work wonderfully on eyebrows too. Oddest thing I found was that those that weren’t as good on my lashes did wonderful things for my brows (and even had the brows growing in darker!). Go figure– some of this is truly individual reaction. The price is right and you can’t go wrong with this product for what it costs. It just will run out sooner!

Revitalash is a product of the same category as Jan Marini — a high end effective product that is about 6 months worth of product for $150.00. This one had stellar results for me– not so for others I know. This tube lasts about 6 months. Effective over the long haul.
There are more reviews coming on about 3-4 more products. These 3 are solid products– just a difference in price and not every product suits every person.
