It’s been a while since a new pop artist has paid her dues in the music industry the old-fashioned/grass roots way; playing seedy club gigs and serious self-promotion. Lady Gaga is a pop star who hasn’t been plucked from a model casting call; born into a famous family; won a reality TV singing contest; or emerged from a teen cable TV sitcom.
“I did this the way you are supposed to. I played every club in New York City and I bombed in every club and then killed it in every club and I found myself as an artist. I learned how to survive as an artist, get real, and how to fail and then figure out who I was as singer and performer. And, I worked hard.”
Gaga adds with a wink in her eye, “And, now, I’m just trying to change the world one sequin at a time.”
Gaga’s first North American tour, The Fame Ball Tour started on March 12, 2009 and was critically appreciated. It was hugely popular in LA and Gaga promised her fans that they can expect plenty of high drama from her upcoming performances.
She said, “I consider what I do to be more of an Andy Warhol concept: pop performance art, multimedia, fashion, technology, video, film. And it’s all coming together, and it’s going to be traveling museum show.”
Just last month, Lady Gaga released here second studio album The Fame Monster, which includes the smash hit “Bad Romance”
Bad Romance
and other brand new songs including “Telephone” featuring Beyoncé, “Speechless,” & “Alejandro”. The album deals with the darker side of fame, as experienced by Gaga over the course of 2008-2009 while traveling around the world, and are expressed through a monster metaphor.
