NYFW: Nancy Lichtenstein Says Bring on the Benz– Chris Benz!!

Back for another round of NYFW posts and fashion show is Nancy Lichtenstein. There’s going to be a lot of content across the board from Nancy– covering a variety of topics. However when it comes to style, she has her favorites like Redken + Chris Benz. It’s not NYFW without a stop at Chris Benz and talking to John Ruidant!

One of my favorite stops at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week is ducking in backstage at Drive-In Studios to check out the hair at Chris Benz. It was done by John Ruidant of Redken

A-list celebrities are sometimes in short supply during February’s version of Fashion Week, but not at Chris Benz–Susan Sarandon and Kelly Osbourne were there.

.Kelly looks SO different from when I saw her backstage at Betsey Johnson a couple of seasons ago (my photo, attached)…back then she looked like she was ready for the junior prom and now she seems to be channeling Edie Sedgwick.

Similarly, the Chris Benz girl has grown up since Spring 2010 and so has her hairstyle. That collection featured long loose waves and candy-colored, frothy dresses, but in Fall 2010 she’s going out at night and putting her hair up. It’s not a stiff, formal look though–more like she intended to stay in and got one last invitation she just couldn’t resist.

This is a look you could easily do at home– hair featured messy French braids or twists that were off center and looked not unlike how you’d imagine models walk around in their apartments in between gigs. . Redken’s star product, Fabricate # 3, provided the texture (wispy and semi-matte), and then John blow-dried used Thickening Lotion #6 to tease the crowns for volume.

Lancome cosmetics + spicy dress
Makeup was by Lancome (Chris Benz teamed with them recently for a limited edition lipstick) and featured smoky but precise eyes, defined eyebrows and warm lips. My favorite look of the show was a spicy dress and vest paired with a fur hat that was somehow a modern update of the photograph of Tuesday Weld used for the cover of the Matthew Sweet album Girlfriend. If we’re going to be cold in Fall 2010, at last we’ll be doing it in style!

FYI: That spicy dress caught my eye too. Wonder if he would be able to get us each one? Twins from different coasts…. (to riff an old song)
Nancy will be back soon!!
