The warm weather and summer is around the corner. Here in LA, we got one great day at the beach and now is mired in fog, so we can hope, pray and live vicariously for sunny, warm days that are usually the norm for this time of year by sipping fabulous cocktails.
After all, it is Friday and I am bringing something really different to your cocktail radar!
AGWA de Bolivia is a new spirit on the scene that you really need to try.
It sounds wild and a bit edgy but take that as the attitude and not the fact and realize that it’s a spirit with a serious joie de vivre.
What is Agwa de Bolivia?
Wild Bolivian coca leaves are hand-picked at 2000 metres in the Andes and shipped under armed guard in 2000 Kilo Bales to Amsterdam to be macerated and de-cocainized. (Take that deep breath you sucked in while reading this and let it out slowly.)
The potent, high-strength flavour formula is reduced to 60 proof, bottled and then shipped around the world in a more conventional format. So no worries about what’s in the bottle other than a unique flavored spirit that will work well with your favorite cocktails and some new ones like I am sharing below!
Q & A
What exactly is this spirit
Agwa de Bolivia is an HERBAL Liquor made with Wild Bolivian Coca Leaf hand-crafted in Amsterdam enhanced with 36 other natural Herbs & Botanicals
Q. What effect?
The “AGWABUZZ” is slightly different to the effect of other alcohol. The effect is maximized when the various coca leaf alkaloids are activated with lime to mimic the “oxygen buzz” experienced when chewing coca leaves or drinking coca-leaf tea at high altitude in the Andes; it tunes you in.
Q. What is the Alcohol Level?
30%/60 Proof; alcohol is the vehicle to transfer and augment the 40 grams of Coca Leaf In every bottle that gives you a different buzz.
Q. What does it taste like?
Not unpleasant with a Herbal & Botanical taste like the COCA LEAF which is quite tropical.
Q. Why Limes?
It changes the PH in the mouth to activate the alkaloids.
Q. ANY COCAINE?
All the cocaine alkaloid is removed which is why we are E.U. (Narcotics commission approved),
FDA (Food & Drugs administration) and
TTB (Homeland security finished liquid & label approved).
