Shopping Byte: Let Your Smart Phone Help You Score Bargains & Info Courtesy of Placecast! Podcast!!

Placecast launches “ShopAlerts”, a location-based mobile marketing service designed for retailers to drive foot traffic into brick & mortar stores.

Placecast’s ShopAlerts system is an “opt in” program which sends out location-based mobile messaging to shoppers as they are out and about during their day regardless of the time– work-day or weekend. What this creates is a unique relevancy tied to time and place. Shop Alerts is service-oriented marketing rather than an intrusion, the location-based mobile program triggers when a consumer is in the geographic area of the store and offers an incentive to the consumer within a purchasing time-frame and location.

The Placecast technology provides highly specific offers based on geo-fenced triggers that can be integrated into a CRM program and driving more actionable foot traffic to the store. Thus ShopAlerts ensures that consumers who like specific brands or stores never miss out on promotions, a great deal or new products.

What is Geo-Fencing?

SA_geofencing_graphic.jpg

ShopAlerts’ geo-fencing technology lets retailers talk to their customers when they are near a store or other relevant locations. If a brand, store or company has a place in mind, Placenet can geo-fence it. Based on program objectives, trade areas, and or customer demographic/psychographic profiles, virtual geo-fences can be created around any location and are set to trigger a personalized marketing message to an opt-in consumer entering the defined area on their mobile phone.

In other words, based on the opt-in program, a store chain can trigger an mobile alert to a cell phone and the consumer gets notice of new products, special sales only when they are in a specific geographic perimeter of that store. Simple, easy and elegant and it reaches the specific customers who want a brand or frequent a specific store.
