Neiman Marcus Fashion Island had a fabulous In Circle event on Thursday past. For the beauty area, the hot spot was Maison Francis Kurkdjian where Francis Kurkdjian was signing bottles and taking the time to speak to fans of his amazing fragrances. Before the event started, he did a tea for special fans and explained about his fragrances and his style and method of creating scents.
Francis Kurkdjian with his fragrances.
The store was packed and people had been waiting an hour to speak with Kurkdjian and I was happy to wait to speak to him– since I had met him at the same store and had the chance to speak to him last summer. This event was made even more special since Fashion Island had been redone and the huge fountain in the Neiman Marcus/Bloomingdales courtyard was scented with APOM (“a piece of me” fragrance) Francis was so generous with his time to everyone and I got my fair share. We sat out by the fountain that was so beautifully scented in the twilight with the moon-rising and the sunset still lingering in the growing dusk.
Interview with Francis Kurkdjian
The latter part of the podcast/interview is with a shopper now adoring fan who bought one of Kurkdjian’s scents as her signature scent. It’s an interesting bit and quite telling about the depth of the fan base of the gentle creative man.
His two newest scents were flying out the door– almost literally — and while there were no celebrities that I know of in attendance, there are many celebrity fans of his fragrances.
The Absolue Pour le Matin — Absolue for the Morning– is a light-hearted yet a scent with greater depth because it has more natural ingredients so it’s more like an eau de parfum than cologne.
The other “bookending” scent is the Absolue pour le Soir which is a richer, deeper scent of the notes of the cologne
•Infusion of Benzoin from Siam
•Bulgarian and Iranian Rose Honey
•Incense absolute
Intoxicating, addictive and definitely a scent that could create an especially memorable evening.
Thank you to Francis Kurkdjian for his time. It was greatly appreciated– particularly since he had spent 12 hours in transit to get to that event in Fashion Island. He was so very gracious and sharing with his time.
