Did you know October was known for more than just harvest, fall fashions and Halloween? It’s National Dessert MONTH!! Yes– an entire month to celebrate desserts. Now I wonder how many calories we would add into the mix if we had a new dessert every day. (Don’t ask– unless you split the dessert 4 ways and don’t finish it)
Here’s a different form of dessert for you to use to celebrate the month, the downward slope of the work-week and also Halloween!!
Iced Chocolate Cake **Only 137 calories!
1 oz. Frangelico
1 oz. SKYY Infusions Citrus
Combine in a short rocks glass. Add an orange or lime twist.
(Ok.. so I gave you the low calorie dessert first and you don’t even have to share it!)
Here’s a cocktail that’s not low-calorie.
Chocolate Rum Cake
2 oz. Flor De Caña 7-year Grand Reserve
4 mint leaves
1 scoop chocolate ice cream
½ oz. vanilla syrup
½ oz. Licor 43
Caramel foam**
Pour all ingredients in a mixing glass. Shake for 20 seconds. Serve over chilled martini glass.
Top with layer of caramel foam.
Recipe for caramel foam:
2 oz. heavy cream
1/2 oz. liquid caramel syrup
dash of cinnamon
Combine heavy cream with syrup + cinnamon in a dry shaker until emulsified
Standard Strawberry Shortcake
1.5 oz Russian Standard Vodka
4 – 6 strawberries
Juice of half a lime
3 tsp. sugar
Crushed ice
In a tumbler, muddle the lime juice, sugar and strawberries to create a paste.
Top the glass up with crushed ice.
Add vodka and stir well.
Top with extra crushed ice and garnish with a sliced strawberry
French Coffee Cake
2 oz. CAMUS VSOP Elegance
1 oz. Irish Cream Liqueur
Pour directly into glass filled with rocks
Check back on Friday for MORE cocktails. It’s been that kind of week. If you realize that I am writing this before Wed– then you can see why there are two cocktail posts.
