Some people love to shop and will shop year-round. (I used to have 85% of my holiday shopping done before Thanksgiving. Alas no longer) . Some people like to wait till the last minute– either because the love the hustle of the stores or because they fear the shopping situation– and the thought of trying to find the perfect gift. Going from store to store can be unnerving.

What if there was a site that would not only make the shopping situation easier by showing you not only the hot fastest-moving items, but key categories where you could compare and explore the best of– and either buy them online (now with an extra price for shipping to get it in time for gift-giving)– or you could go edit your list down to a few key items and go hit the malls in search of those items local to you. Sounds too good to be true right?

This site is really unique from anything else you have seen– once you dive into it via the various categories of ” featured, funny, him, her, teens, kids, gadgets and media” (meaning media devices and things like books, CDs, DVDs and more– not press ). What this site provides you with a is a constantly updating list of the hottest “wishlist” items you can buy within a category– and it’s a year-round site and the list is curated by the popularity of the product. So if you are looking for something truly obscure you might not find it on the list. But then again– you might find something you didn’t know was there just by looking at this site.

I managed to snag Mike Dorsey to talk about GiftIdeator.com last week and I have been busting time to get this podcast– which was a 60+ minutes long chat — about this site and how it functions.
It’s been split into three sections and you are getting part 1 today! The other sections run Wednesday and Friday of this week.

Note that everything is tied to Amazon.com for ease of purchase at the best possible prices (we hope that they are always the best possible prices. I did do some checking on this and the buying power of Amazon is such that they do have serious bargaining power to get great prices. Some though aren’t any lower than most spots for some items.)

They have also partnered with Pinterest.com so that you can “pin” those things that caught your eye to your list on that site (in case you forget what it was you were looking at or forgot where to buy it) as well as share it with others on pinterest. Think of it as taking your social network shopping with you and getting comments before and after you make a purchase — along with making your own opinion heard- not only on Pinterest.com but Amazon.com as well.
