It’s Valentine’s Day and while chocolate is often de rigueur, there are other ways to offer chocolate than a “box of” and also more sweet things to gift or have around that are interesting. These are items you won’t find most places are are artisanal in nature so that you know that any product is carefully produced out of great ingredients.
Robert Lambert is back with the most amazing array of chocolate sauces. Handmade, and hand poured into mason-type jars, these are killer sauces. There are four chocolate sauces– each having a divinity of its own spectacular nature; The one shown is the Extreme Vanilla Bean Chocolate Sauce which Lambert was kind enough to send because it was his favorite.
I use triple-infused vanilla and scrape 20 more beans for every batch, then add a touch of fine brandy in a blend of semi-sweet chocolate and 100% cacao chocolate. Floral and fruity, everyone finds something here to love.
When this arrived on my doorstep, I had to have a taste. I whipped some spoons (you do not reuse a spoon that’s been previously used for tasting without washing it thoroughly. Rather than waste the time, I just pulled out more spoons). Right out of the jar, it’s like rich rich dark chocolate with fruity undertones. Heated up, it’s sinful!
Lots of ways to use this: spread it on warm cookies (nuke them first), mix it into coffee or you might want to try a cocktail with it in the mix. Rum would be excellent with this and if you mixed both a shot of raspberry, cherry or coconut rum (Cruzan or Bacardi) with the chocolate sauce heated up and mixed with some light coffee and had this hot, you would have an excellent drink.
There are other flavors of this killer chocolate sauce– that’s why I sort of refer to Lambert’s collection of dessert sauces as “death by chocolate”–because the selection is sinister delish! His collection of flavors also include Four Orange Chocolate Sauce , Malted Milk Chocolate Sauce (new!! Made with Jack Daniels!) and Deep Dark Chocolate Sauce ( dark dark chocolate with French Cognac). Each has it’s own personality and at $14 per jar, worth the taste treat to give or to receive or to stash for special occasions.
