From the desk of Mid Life Man 2012: Thom DeLorenzo and I had some phone-time on men’s grooming — more specifically EvolutionMan.

Trying out a new shaving cream is like going on a first date with a stranger.
If it’s bad, it can really fuck you up. However, if it goes well, well then, we all know that kind of ending.

Trying out Evolution Man’s Cleanse and Shave, thankfully, is just that – one big happy ending. I was chasing down dresses for a former client when this publicist hands me this new product. Evolution Man she called it.

The packaging is sleek and black and makes the products look as if the fell from the Starship Enterprise. Free products are always my weakness. My bathroom was littered with tons of products I no longer used. However, that fate was not meant to be for this new product. Evolution Man got it right. I mean, when we were kids watching Dad put on the Barbasol, it was the massively foamy concoction that looked more like a prop in a movie that a grooming product. I, too, began my shaving days with that, and always ended up looking like I was trying to commit suicide.

For a man to shave his beard right, and look like he likes himself, the shaving cream has to stay close to the skin and treat it gently. Its almost, as if, you want your shaving cream to make love to your face. Evolution Man Cleanse and Shave is packed with tons of ingredients that give it its kick. My first thought was the Tea Tree Oil was the reason I kept coming back, with that soothing scent. I thought, maybe it was the Vitamin E that made the product so amazing. How often do we overlook the fact that the most simple, obvious reason is what really works. Vitamin E has been a hit for years with the skin care trade. However, what I think really does the trick is the Safflower Seed Oil.

Not just calling itself change, Evolution Man really does make a change in men’s skin care by using the latest and greatest products. Safflower Seed Oil not only cleanses your skin, but it also softens it – so your face feels great after a shave! If Evolution Man keeps evolving the way it does, the product line has a bright future.
