Starting on 10/16, USA’s hit original international spy drama series, COVERT AFFAIRS, returned for the remaining all-new six thrill-packed episodes of season three . The season will finale on Tuesday, November 20. The series stars Golden Globe-nominated Piper Perabo , Christopher Gorham, Kari Matchett and Peter Gallagher .
As the third season continues, we find Annie still off the grid and trying to escape Russia, after seeking the ulitmate revenge against her supposed mentor Lena Smith (guest star Sarah Clarke), who shot her twice in the chest and killed Simon (guest star Richard Coyle), an asset and the man she was falling in love with.
Auggie (Gorham), Annie’s best friend and blind CIA tech ops agent, is left behind with the realization that there are things left unsaid between them, and when he learns that she’s been apprehended by the Russians it drives him to ask for Eyal’s (guest star Oded Fehr) help to get her home safely. Meanwhile, tensions mount back home between Joan (Kari Matchett) and Arthur (Peter Gallagher) forcing Joan to lean on an old crutch. In addtion to Oded Fehr and Sarah Clarke, guest stars for the remainder of the season include Tovah Feldshuh, Tim Griffin, Michelle Nolden and Haaz Sleiman. International shooting locations this season have included Moscow, Paris, Barcelona, Morocco and Puerto Rico.
Episode one of the final six really kicked this mini-season off into high gear– leaving everyone– Augie, Eyal, Joan, Arthur and even Annie where their lives were headed– and even their careers within the agency. In this next episode– “Man in the Middle,” airing Tuesday, 10/30–directed by Chris Gorham– this is the next step in this very quizzical and well-crafted series and it’s definitely got me hooked.
I was able to preview this episode and it’s smoking with challenges for every character. Gorham does a really credible job in ratcheting up the tension on this episode as many things from history of various characters are revealed and must be dealt with whether it’s addiction, relationships or wondering who can one trust in each situation.
The relationships between various characters particularly Joan and Annie, Augie, Annie & his former fiancee, Joan and Arthur as well as Annie and Eyal are all teetering on the edge of falling apart and trust is a five letter word that some rely on and others don’t. This episode dissects relationships between so many people including the key players in the plot line. Nothing, no one is completely transparent in this episode.
Loved the episode. You will die when it ends because it leaves you wanting more. Chris Gorham’s direction is spot-on. He should be doing more directing in the future.
Do not miss this episode on 10/30, Tuesday night on USA Network. 10 PM ET/PT- It will give a new meaning to SPOOK when it comes to the night before Halloween!
