For those who don’t know what CrossFit workouts are – you are in for a treat! For those who do– congrats on going the distance and making a commitment. I caught up with Ty Vincent at TedX in Long Beach
As Owner and Head Coach of CrossFit Sunset in Los Angeles, Ty Vincent is widely recognized for his expertise in functional training and a commitment to developing and implementing innovative fitness techniques.

With more than 12 years of experience in the industry – combined with his boundless energy, humor and “except-no-excuses” attitude – Ty is able to work with each client on an individual basis to focus on achieving long-term results through challenging and constantly varied workouts. Ty’s emphasis on strength-training modalities that can be transferred from the gym to daily life have successfully earned him a diverse client list that includes celebrities and professional athletes to business executives and stay-at-home parents.
Additionally, Ty’s inventive techniques and devotion to pursuing and communicating only the latest, most credible and effective fitness information have resulted in several long-standing corporate partnerships. Besides being Owner and Head Coach of CrossFit Sunset, Ty enjoys relationships with Gold’s Gym, Barry’s Bootcamp, CrossFit Hollywood, GoldenState CrossFit and Brick Sports and Performance. Ty is certified through the International Sports Science Association (ISSA-CPT), CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1), CrossFit Endurance, CrossFit Football, CrossFit Nutrition and USAW Level 1. He is an honors graduate of Le Cordon Bleu culinary school and holds a Bachelors Degree and Masters from The State University of New York at Buffalo.
Most recently, Ty lead fitness classes at the TED and TEDActive conferences, introducing CrossFit to some of the most innovative minds in the country. Ty has also appeared as fitness expert in numerous print and broadcast media features in outlets like E! News, KCAL 9 CBS News, and The Hollywood Reporter.
Paleo Recipe: (courtesy CBS video !)
Egg and Sweet Potato Hash
• 1 small sweet potato
• 1 egg
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1/4 tsp garlic powder
• 1/4 tsp onion powder
• 1/4 tsp black pepper
• 1/4 tsp dried thyme
• 1 tbsp coconut oil
• 2 tbsp water
Instructions:
1. Peel sweet potato and shred on large grates of box grater
2. Heat coconut oil over medium heat in non stick pan
3. Add potato to pan and start to sauté. Add spices to potato.
4. Cook potato for 3-4 minutes. Get a nice crust on potato.
5. Create small nest in center of potato. Crack egg into center. Add water to pan and cover.
6. Cook egg on potato for another 2 1/2 minutes.
7. Remove from heat, take off lid and plate.
