Indie Singer Natalie Gelman Makes GREAT Music and Tracks to Head Out on Tour Post New EP!! #PODCAST!!
Natalie Gelman is a musical quantity that one doesn’t see often enough around the musical block. A transplanted New Yorker morphed into a Cali girl who wears both aesthetes well, Gelman’s voice is clear, true and resonates the truth in her playlist!
Natalie’s second EP, Streetlamp Musician, released July 16th.
She had a packed CD release show at the Hotel Cafe on July 18. This show was sponsored by ASTARS Woomen’s Clothing
Here’s a bit of a bio on Natalie
A modern day troubadour, Natalie performs across the country tirelessly and is about to release a new album with producers Charlie Midnight (James Brown) and Mark Needham (The Killers) titled Streetlamp Musician after a song she wrote about street performing and watching New York City change over time.
Raised in the old West Village, NYC stomping ground of songwriting greats, Natalie Gelman grew up amidst artists and true bohemians. She borrowed a friends guitar at 16 and started writing songs on it immediately and began busking on subway platforms soon afterwards when she grew tired of pretending to be 21 to play clubs in the city.
Captivating tourists and straphangers alike in the subway, Natalie stopped even the most hurried commuters in their tracks with her powerful voice. She continues to play what she calls her favorite stage while also performing at the House of Blues, Webster Hall and festivals across the country.
Compared to Sheryl Crow, Jewel and Joni Mitchell, Natalie’s music is contemporary and timeless. She writes honest, heartfelt songs – responding to current affairs and revealing parts of her inner self with the world. “Not too much about her, but somehow about me & everyone in the audience as well.”
Here’s a recent interview with Voice of America Border Crossing inteview and it opens with a great song: The Lion.
An inspiring interview and it’s great GREAT interview in the studio with VOA!
An impromptu in-flight ‘captive audience’ concert!
Natalie Gelman’s voice captivates me. She has great resonance for me and her song LIONS really captured my attention as I mentioned earlier. There is a fire within her that burns bright.. but you need to listen long enough to capture that essense of her spirit and soul as well as the depth of where creativity lies– dig deep people, it’s not just superficial top 40.
Natalie is something special– as are 90%+ of the people that get my attention.
