Summer is almost over and given that Labor Day is coming up which typically signals the end of summer for most (except here in LA which really means summer’s sunshine dial is about to be turned up!) Given all that has been going on across the country, I bet your hair isn’t quite like what you wanted it to be by this time of year. Lucky for us, I was able to snag Pureology Brand Ambassador and Byuti (salon) owner, Natasha Sunshine on the phone for a conversation about color, hair styles & cuts and what do to about changes in trends and styles that will make your daily styling not a chore but a reasonably easy thing to deal with.
The podcast/phone interview with Natasha Sunshine is a discussion of styles for fall to summer as well as questions about hair color trends and how to best keep your hair in great condition.
SHORT HAIR IS HOT
Short hair is making a splash this season with tapered neck lines and overgrown shaggy layers on top. Notice the diversity this haircut can have from clean and chic to edgy and modern.
Who wears this best:
This particular short cut works with most face shapes. Because of the length in front it has a softening effect for most features like Ashlee Simpson’s cut.

Looking for tips on color trends for fall? Listen to the podcast! Natasha and I discuss a lot of what’s going on and what you could be doing!
BANGS ARE HANGING AROUND
Bangs have been back for a few seasons now and they aren’t going anywhere. The fringe that everyone wants is the full commitment heavy blunt type like Taylor Swift and Bella Thorne. They can be a great option for the girl ho wants to say long but needs a new spin on her look.
Who wears this best:
You’ll want to have an oval face shape to really rock blunt bangs. Gorgeous eyes like Taylors can be an even bigger hit with a fringe as well.
OMBRE + LONG LAYERS
If you’re going for sex appeal meets fashion forward long layers with a subtle sun kissed ombré are the way to go. Doutzen Kroes and Jessica Biel show what an impact subtle color mixed with the right cut can make.
Who wears this best:
Round, square and oval face shapes shine with longer layers. For longer face shapes, you’d want to start with a tad shorter layer around the frame of the face.

The bang do does flatter all these women, but I am invested in all long. Thanks for the color ideas.
