Looking for some hot new music to spark your friends attention and add to your personal “cool’ factor? Check out Broken Anchor– an LA-based group that “recalls blue-eyed rock ‘n’ roll of the golden days refocused through a folk lens,” (WXPN The Key) on the new LP Fresh Lemonade that drops TODAY. (I am nothing if not timely!)
Digging this new sound- and how it’s still reminiscent of sounds from other genres and bands yet still very distinctive– Broken Anchor is sure to have a tune or two at least to haunt you!
Broken Anchor is helmed and truly anchored by Austin Hartley-Leonard – an eclectic musician with command of a variety of musical instruments including the cello – puts the band together based on venue with a collection of stellar musician friends. The result is “A handsome compilation of pure indie rock.” (Baeble Music) and if you like Wilco, Band of Horses, Ryan Adams, Kurt Vile or My Morning Jacket, this band will fall fairly well into the same genre but the attitude that Hartley-Leonard brings to Broken Anchor is best described as eclectic and whimsically twisted (as seen in the video below). While I can’t make it to El Cid for the release show (a girl cannot be in 3 places at one time), be assured this is not the last you have heard of Broken Anchor! LOVE the sounds. Canada– the stream above is rocking but I am digging deep into this CD to get it embedded in my brain and give you a review (and maybe a podcast too!)
