Hexing Rapists:
After one of our meetings I suggested, “Let’s hex the rapists!”
The women were a little surprised not knowing what that meant.
“I’ll show it to you, but the most important tool we have is that we have a righteous cause. These men who rape women insulted the Goddess, back in the days before patriarchy rapists were killed for that.”
“You are going to kill them?” They asked.
“Of course not. I just cut their good luck to shreds. Criminals need good luck to get away with it. I send the Fates, the Furies themselves after them and they deal with them as the Fates would. I don’t need to specify.”
“Really? Wouldn’t that come back on us tenfold?”
“We just never attack the innocent. Then we are safe.” I assured them.
“But how do we know who these rapists are?”
“We don’t have to. The Great Mother knows who it was. I just say ‘whosoever raped this woman’.”
The women started liking the idea.
“Its’ elegant.” Dixie said
“You don’t even have to be there. Wow!” Joan started liking this too. She was a nonreligious person, and as feminists we were hurt by religion so long and so often she didn’t want any religion involved. But Witchcraft is a Craft. It’s not a religion. It’s a knowing. You move energy to balance out injustice.
And so we gathered for the first time and created an altar with bones and some bloody tampaxes (for elimination). We wrote on a parchment paper ‘whosoever violated Maxine” and we followed up three nights in a row. It took a different kind of discipline, but the cause was very important. We burned a black candle with the words written backwards; made it a little creepy.
Then we waited.
