While I don’t need to do any disclaimer since I am not being compensated for anything in this post or the others in this series, this is a TERRIFIC series of videos courtesy of VOLVO who want you to have a great holiday season. My compensation is hopefully hearing from any and all of you who do even one of these projects. I would love to see photos either on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or my blog.
So go to it! Bring on your best or even if it’s something a bit bedraggled, I still want to see it. It’s the effort that counts.
After all Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree wasn’t the most beautiful- it was the one most loved!
How to Make a Star Ornament
Here’s what you need for your star:
Keep the video handy because you will need to watch it about 8 times!
Scissors
Wheat Straws
Embroidery Floss
Hot Water
Pins
Star Template like one shown in video
and corkboard (medium piece)
Cut wheat heads off and cut the straws left evenly at top and bottom and soak them in hot water in a flat baking dish.
Soak for 30 minutes
Tie them up with embroidery floss in the middle and fan them out.
Tack the star diagram onto the corkboard and mark the intersection points on the inner part of the star with pins.
Fan the stalks out with 3 per section as shown in video
Start tying different straws together with your choice of color of embroidery floss from each section at the different intersection points.
After everything is tied off, trim off the remaining ends and voila! A beautiful star!
Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year! Enjoy.
Thanks to Volvo for the video!
