Beverly Hills Color Bar Hits Allure Magazine’s Beauty Directory for HAIR!

Do you read Allure Magazine? I don’t typically read it any longer but maybe I should start subscribing again. I was visiting a friend, Malcolm McAlpine of Beverly Hills Color Bar.. If that salon sounds familiar, search this blog for other posts about “Beverly Hills Color Bar” and you will see I know them well.

I ran into Malcolm McAlpine at a Paleta event — glad to have seen him and he said for me to come in and see him. I did just that to get a trim on a recent haircut that lacked consistent attention. Not only did he do an amazing job on fixing someone’s lack of due diligence in front and in back, he also comped me a great smoothing treatment just for my bangs that lasts about 4-6 weeks. It’s called The Jennifer– not after Aniston but after a fitness pro that is a client who doesn’t want frizzy curls when she is working with clients and starts sweating. We talked hair color (mine and others) as well as cuts since I had gone from layers to blunt cut!

So while I was getting the TLC that I needed, we started talking about biz for him. He told me about the upcoming feature in Allure and I was anxious to find the magazine. I started haunting various markets and drugstores trying to find July’s issue since I no longer subscribe. Finally I found one and the review Malcolm got was stellar indeed! BHCB was featured in the DIRECTORY section which this month it was about getting quality color for $100 or less!

The other two salons (Stag Hair Parlor and Eden by Eden Sassoon) in LA both got 4 stars; Malcolm’s color work of painting slivers of caramel light into dark hair made the writer swoon with delight and he got the sole 5 stars! The writer was thrilled to find that the place was fun, nice and extremely affordable too (more than the other two). So he passes the Allure Magazine challenge with flying colors!

  1. Quality does retain a following more than elaborate facilities, which I am sure the stars require. I don’t color my hair any more, but it is something that requires a great deal of trust. Glad you know what to do.
