Check out Joyo’s Cutting Edge Jewelry: Laser-Cut Designs in WOOD!

I love checking out jewelry– online, in real life, in magazines. I always have my eyes open for new pieces, new designs and new vendors. I ran across one recently (and managed to snag a piece from the brand to be able to talk about the line with more knowledge.

Joyo Laser-Cut Jewelry presents a fantastic collection of jewelry pieces with unique design elements using laser-cut wood. The range of woods used is almost limitless- it just has to be quality wood. The company creates architectural or soft image designs (*leaves and flowers) and has the pattern cut out of thin slices of wood to wrap around aluminum or other flexible metals for wear as cuffs, earrings, necklaces (pendants and statement piece necklaces). These pieces look like metal but the only metal is the black or silver-toned backing up the jewelry– if that is used for the design such as with the cuffs.

This is the piece that Joyo gifted me.. and I found it to be extremely lightweight and really unique. I have received a ton of compliments on it saying that it was very interesting and feminine. The greatest part is when I have whipped it off to show people, they have been surprised that it’s not made entirely of metal and that it was exceptionally lightweight. One woman commented on how bigger cuffs often feel very heavy and this was a brand she would investigate because it was so very light and would be easy to deal with when stacking up bracelets!

Here’s a bit about the brand

All Joyo laser-cut jewelry is designed and handmade by Jenn Liddiard in Scituate, MA.

Prior to starting Joyo in the summer of 2012, Jenn made gemstone jewelry for many years, and worked as a freelance graphic designer. After discovering laser technology, she realized the potential for turning her designs into jewelry. Jenn laser cuts everything herself, and does all of the design, sanding, oil finishing, and assembly by hand.

She gets inspiration from museums, architecture, history, and nature, and loves taking a natural material like wood, and transforming it into a unique, intricate, unexpected form.

“I have a habit of looking for patterns in ordinary places, like storm drains, sidewalk bricks, window grates, and fences–things that normally blend into our everyday surroundings. I like to find little bits of design that draw you in. That thinking also influences my jewelry–I like to make pieces that encourage people to look more closely.”

Quality materials and being kind to the environment are an integral part of Joyo.

I was gifted a piece of jewelry from Joyo and I absolutely love it. The compliments are never-ending. However it’s the style and design of the piece I talk about and have meaning for me. My review is my own take on this line and I don’t review brands that don’t resonate with me. The gift in no way reflects on my opinion of this line.

  1. Accessories you wore were awesome, the ring and the bracelet at its best. Just want to share it up another lovely collections via my website.

  2. Hello Maya.
Thank you for commenting. I wish it had been more relevant since there are no rings in the post- just bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Also *please* do not spam this blog with your link being in the comments. You plugged it into the comment when you had to identify yourself to comment.
so twice is not welcome– especially in the body of the comment.

  3. This is a really different look. I like the ones on metal the best because they have both depth and contrast. Very cool.

  4. all the bracelets are on metal Pam! they are VERY different. Just the color of the metal is either silver or black.. depending on the look one chooses and the color of the wood.
