I saw Claire Dane’s entire look on the red carpet and wondered when she chopped off her hair! It looked light, cool and fresh! (It was 95+ degrees in downtown LA today where the Emmys are held at the Microsoft Theater (across from LA Live!)
Here’s the breakdown courtesy of Peter Butler on how you can replicate the look!
Claire Danes, nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama for “Homeland,” wore a PRADA navy and bordeaux sequin striped gown suspended from silver chain link straps
.
Celebrity hairstylist Peter Butler styled lead actress nominee Claire Danes at the 67th annual Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.
“Claire looks beautiful in a deep purple Prada dress tonight. It’s 90 degrees in downtown Los Angeles, so I wanted to pull her hair up. I decided to go for a faux bob, with a late ‘60s/early ‘70s vibe. At first, I envisioned a Grace Kelly Goes to the Beach look, but that style was too rough and raw. We wanted polished and red carpet-ready, so we opted for Grace Kelly Goes to Palm Springs.
I began by blowing her hair out with Leonor Greyl Mousse A Lotus Volumatrice to impart a little lift. I sprayed her roots with Leonor Greyl Voluforme as I curled her hair, then let that cool and set. To make the texture more natural, I brushed out the waves and added Leonor Greyl Eclat Natural to smooth flyaways. I finished by pinning it up and tucking the right side behind her ear.
Right before she walked out the door, I spritzed on a finishing touch of Leonor Greyl Lacque Souple to nail it down. She’s got a golden nude makeup look and elegant hair. As she stepped on the red carpet she said, ‘I feel like I’m going to Bob Hope’s house!’ with a laugh.

I love the look and it’s pretty simple to do!

INSPIRATION
Claire was wearing this beautiful, striped, sequined dress in navy and maroon. For her makeup, we decided to go for a late-’60s/early-’70s nude palette, something you’d see at a Palm Springs party, with a focus on lashes and eyeliner.
SKINCARE
I prepped Claire’s skin with La Solution 10 de Chanel Sensitive Skin Cream. I really love the consistency of it, and I wanted her to look well hydrated but not shiny. La Solution 10 de Chanel just gives you creamy-looking, beautiful skin.FACE
For Claire’s complexion, I used CHANEL Perfection Lumière Velvet Smooth-Effect Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen in 40 Beige, then added CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick in N°22 to the apples of her cheeks and topped it with CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour SPF 15 in N°50. To highlight the cheeks, I swiped on CHANEL Limited Edition Highlighting Powder in Coups de Minuit (available in November 2015). It’s beautiful, just like candlelight.EYES
I started with CHANEL Stylo Yeux Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Érable, lining the bottom and top lashlines, and also adding it into the eye crease to enhance the retro effect. I used CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Velvet Long Wear Luminous Matte Eyeshadow in Melody as a blending base color, which gave a gorgeous eye-opening effect. I dotted CHANEL Écriture de Chanel Eyeliner Pen in Noir between Claire’s lashes and extended a slight wing at the corner. For more color, I used the CHANEL Limited Edition Eyeshadow Palette in Entrelacs. I applied the beige and medium-brown tones in the eye crease, and the darker brown shade along the lashline. The shades blend gorgeously.LIPS
After a coat of lip balm, I applied CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Pensive to finish Claire’s look.
