Here are a couple of events that are “must see” events. One is for someone I had met several years ago and I have seen his talent and savvy as a musician evolve and morph into tunes, presentation and talent that can’t be ignored! The other event is for a new talent on the horizon who’s in town for a single night!
Dave Yaden isn’t new to this blog. While I met him via several other musicians and even had a chance to get to know him as I kept seeing him playing for various musicians that I have interviewed in the past.
He’s dedicated to his music (and his family) and he’s a great guy who can tinkle those piano keys like few can.
He hit me up to run this bit on his upcoming date to celebrate the release of his new EP, MOVE! He’s playing the Hotel Cafe with Tamir Barzilay, Chris Bautista and Darwin Johnson (wave to Darwin!) on Friday, Oct. 9, at 9:15. (According to the Hotel’s calendar, his show is pushed back to 10 PM but I would suggest being there at 9:15.. to get seats and a drink.
Here’s one video that shows off what Dave can do when he’s not singing with David and Devine. (Unfortunately Devine can’t make it, but she will be there in spirit!)
I love this jazz-heavy song filled with great rifts of funk and other musical infusions. Much like my favorite cocktails, Dave pulls out all the stops and go where few musicians tread. Definitely hit soundcloud to demo the EP and BUY IT!

Jasmine Jordan
Jasmine Jordan revives the sweet soul/ rhythm & blues sound that I know and love. She released her last album-Time Travel-at the beginning of 2015 and she’s back in town to share her lush and lovely voice with us LIVE at AMPLYFi on October 3 (5617 1/2 Melrose Ave Los Angeles, CA 90038). Doors open just before 7 PM. She’s dropping SMILE, her latest collection of tunes!
New York R&B singer Jasmine Jordan returns this week with her new single and video “Smile”, her first new music since her debut EP Time Travel. Continuing in the same direction as the EP—putting a contemporary spin on classic, vibrant 1970s urban soul—the track and video focuses more on the ebullience of the music, making for an upbeat, effervescent track.
“‘Smile’ is a song about self-love and a word of encouragement for anyone having a difficult time, or what I call a down season, in life,” Jordan tells PopMatters. “You will make it through and there will always be a new reason to smile if you just hold on. This video captures that very sentiment and uplifting energy.”
