Singer-Songwriter Cindy Alexander Hits Saint Rocke in Hermosa to Share New Album!

I had not heard of Cindy Alexander till I ran across a post on Facebook via one of my connections, Robert Leggett! Robert is an exceptionally knowledgeable man and we have a lot of friends in common. So I paid attention when Robert mentioned Cindy Alexander was playing at Saint Rocke’s in Hermosa Beach on Sunday 7/17/2016.

Actually my head sort of swiveled as I shifted from writing to hunting down the information and checking out Cindy Alexander’s background. Saint Rocke is a favorite spot of mine to see musicians play in an intimate setting. It’s very user-friendly for fans and it’s pretty great place to watch great musicians share their music in an up-close and more personal setting. I listened to some of her music and was impressed – and I should be because her voice is rich and shares a lot of emotion. Her lyrics are powerful.
This tour date at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach and the tour that takes her around the US is support her newest album, Deep Water.

Cindy Alexander and “Deep Water”
Award-winning, singer-songwriter CINDY ALEXANDER, announces the release of her 8th studio album, Deep Waters, on July 15th via Blue Élan Records. Deep Waters explores love in all of its forms— the passionate, sexual, the sacred and the maternal, even love that’s remorseful and misguided. All of it, CINDY exposes with an unrelenting truthfulness through both her music and vocal delivery; she demands the listener take it all in and surrender to her fearless take on life.

The title track, about abandoning oneself completely to another, was the first song she wrote with acclaimed artist, writer and producer Colin Devlin, best known for his solo work and as half of leading Irish duo, The Devlins.

“That’s the beautiful thing about art,” CINDY says. “You can dive in and go to places that may be too scary to go to in real life.” Blue Élan producers immediately recognized the duo’s creative chemistry and asked for a full album. CINDY ultimately wrote or co-wrote eight of the album’s 10 tracks (Deep Waters’ lone cover is a remake of Jann Arden’s “Good Mother”).

On the compelling track “Push”, she admits,

“I was mad at every guy in my life, including Colin”. “I was being challenged in every area of my life and I fought back. It turned into a weird love song and there’s definitely some innuendo. That’s what comes from sharing the writer’s hat.”

On “Forever Bound”, a lullaby, CINDY’s voice caressingly serves up a love song to her 7-year old twins, a reminder that even when she’s away on tour, there is a tether that eternally unites them.

“When I recovered from cancer, the dream that wouldn’t die was my music,” she says. “I realized it was time to honor my passion. I told my daughters there will come a time when they discover their passion and purpose. The day I recorded it was the day David Bowie died. This song is their legacy.”

As a survivor of Breast Cancer, CINDY, an avid supporter of awareness as an Ambassador to BreastCancer.org, has solidified her unafraid storytelling style, tackling the most intimate subjects in song. Her passion manifests itself on “Fireball”, about an unstoppable force who sheds her doubters and soars as she reclaims her independence and her spirit.

“The people who didn’t believe in me don’t bother me anymore, my new path puts my girls first and then the music that is, as I said, their legacy.” CINDY declares..

….And Deep Waters is just the beginning of that powerful journey.

Comeback Artist (after winning her fight against breast cancer ’14).
Yet, even with all the accolades and a prized “record deal” for winning a reality show, CINDY has remained independent, producing on her own JamCat Records, which partnered with Blue Élan in 2014.
