NARS Shows Off GLORIOUS Color in Velvet Lip Glides Collection! Perfect for Gifting!!

As a blogger and freelance writer/editor, I get a lot of boxes of “stuff” . Usually, I know what’s coming (approximately) and when it’s going to show up (usually). Last week was the rush before the Thanksgiving storm and some things that were expected haven’t shown up (yet). Other things were a surprise… like this package that I got from NARS.

Looks exotic, even intoxicating. The colors are heavenly! The box looks even better when it’s open!

From left to right: Velvet Lipglides: Bound, Danceteria, No. 54 and Toy. The colors are as pretty accurate though TOY is a bit russet in the open box photo when it looks more like the closed box color that you see in the opening.    I will share swatches below (read at the bottom of the post) .

This season, NARS takes lips to a whole new level with the new Velvet Lip Glide. The new lip color strikes the perfect balance between softness and strength, coverage and comfort in a full range of colors. Laced with NARS’ Oil Infusion Complex, this hybrid lip color combines the fluidity and effortlessness of a gloss with the coverage and comfort of a lipstick. (Can we say heaven in a tube?)

PS the caps each have a portion of the NARS name on each side. It makes a great gift presentation if you buy (or someone buys) 4 Velvet Lip Glides (or other items) and give them in that box!

The formatting of those couple of paragraphs is mine– but that’s because I wanted to highlight how DIFFERENT these lipcolors are. The best part of a lip gloss married to a moist and glossy lip color. YUMMY!!

Talk about “fun in the sun shade”. It’s speaks volumes without saying a word. It’s  so much fun!

 

 

 

NARS-No-54-Velvet-Lip-Glide
NO. 54– Raspberry red

  I wore this color today and mixed it with a bit of TOY.  I love this shade and it even works if you tend to wear the warm end of the range. Don’t let the words RASPBERRY fool you. This is RED!

TOY- Aubergine. 
This color is much like other aubergine lip colors in the NARS collection.  It does look great if you layer it on or if you use it over another color for a bit more vivid color.  This does have a bit of grey or cool tone to it . It is not a warm shade.

 

Let’s talk about how to wear/use these great  lipglides.  The color payoff is huge — so be cautious how you apply these. They are very pigmented lip colors.

–Start light with small amounts and  layer it on till you get the color or look you are seeking.

–Give them a couple of seconds to set too so that it doesn’t smudge or smear.

–I know that if you use the doe foot applicator  is so much easier than whipping out a lipstick brush and you can get pretty precise with this new applicator.

It would be fair to say that maybe you want to let this lip color set for a few seconds before you decide to blot or put clothing on.
I love the texture. It’s luscious and feels rich– very soothing on the lips.

I haven’t tried it for longevity yet. I have been too stunned by the texture and the colors. I can’t exactly walk out of the house with all four colors on my lips! These gorgeous, oh-so-sexy in a great way lip colors – you need to buy a couple. Maybe 4.. maybe 6 and give a couple of besties early Xmas gifts.

 

These are AWESOME!! I have worn two color today. I will try to work out the next two.
