I was introduced recently to a new type of spirit/wine. Jardesca is its name and it’s an unusal blend of 3 Californonia white wines -both sweet and dry that have been blended and carfully balanced with a double-distilled fine grape “eau de vie” that’s give a distinctly unique flavor profile with the addition of 10 botanicals. Lighter in taste yet with some complexity, this is a spirit for sipping. Jardesca mixes well with other spirits from wine to Proscecco. I can see that carefully chosen spirits could be mixed carefully with Jardesca to provide a unique flavor profile and context where it would be the predominant opening and heart “notes” of the cocktail with botanicals bringing out and balancing the other spirit’s flavor profile.
Very a very European kind of feel, this spirit/wine makes a great aperitif– in the European sort of way.
I love the idea of introducing the ritual of an aperitif into more American dining and entertaining — definitely more commonly experienced in Europe, and something I think LA locals would love too! It sets the pace for a meal, encouraging us to slow down and focus on enjoying breaking bread with friends and family!
Handcrafted in Sonoma, JARDESCA is the ideal marriage of California’s vineyards and gardens. A delicious blend of 3 California sweet and dry white wines balanced with a double distilled fine grape Eau de Vie that’s brightened with 10 botanicals inspired by California, including Pink Grapefruit, Bay Leaf and Pink Peppercorn. JARDESCA is perfectly balanced, delicious and refreshing.
Tasting Notes
Round, rich, bright and crisp; balanced naturally between sweet and dry. Slightly herbaceous with a citrusy acidity: sweet peppermint, orange blossom and cardamom leap toward the nose; apricots and grapefruit linger upon the palate.

Recipes for holiday cocktails!
This wine is something very special. It’s the type of wine you should always have at least 2 bottles stashed in your wine rack or at least one in your refrigerator or wine cooler. Not only is it the perfect wine for summer, it’s ideal for fall/winter because it marries well with savory dishes and types of cocktail mixes.
This isn’t the only time you will see me write about Jardesca! It’s bound to come back around again. You might want to think of it as an additional ingredient when you are mixing up a gin cocktail or two.
Here’s the logo for the brand, in case you forget what the bottle looks like:
I would love to know if you tried it and how you liked it. It’s a very unique fortifed wine. Tasty and it works when you want something light or something with more depth. It’s not often one finds a spirit or wine this flexible.
