I love the Harlem Globetrotters! I have followed them since I was a kid and my dad would be watching them on TV. I loved their ability to spin the ball on a single fingertip as well perform some amazing shots that resulted in multiple point gains. I thought all basketball games were like the Globetrotters till I figured out that not all games were as fun as theirs. That’s ok! I still love watching “hoops” on TV and in person when possible.
Why am I talking about the Harlem Globetrotters?
A story/video slipped into my inbox today that definitely caught my eye–because it was about the Harlem Globetrotters making a shot from the top of the NRG Stadium in Houston!! Granted the entire team couldn’t go up there, but Thunder Law could — and did! And he did something amazing too!
The Globetrotters have made it a tradition to attempt trick shots off arenas where they play, including baskets from atop the STAPLES Center in LA and Madison Square Garden in NYC. With the NRG Arena roof in Houston being too small for the world famous team, they called the Houston Texans to gain access to their stadium next door. The long path to the retractable roof includes climbing up the catwalk and fitting through two small hatches.
The Harlem Globetrotters will launch their new world tour in Houston on Dec. 26-27. To get ready, star Globetrotter and three-time world record holder, Thunder Law nailed an unlikely shot from the roof at NRG Stadium – home to the Houston Texans and host of Super Bowl LI.

O God I love this video…I saw them in person when I was a kid, with Meadowlark. They are better than any other entertainers because of the comic plus athletic chops..nobody else has them. Thanks for posting this great promo for their games in Houston…very cool.
I am a huge fan of the HG too and I loved Meadowlark Lemon and the guys. It was so much fun to watch. They made basketball look so easy!!
