WHEN: Friday, December 30th – Friday, January 27th, 2017
FLAVORS:
· Happy Birthday Elvis
January 8th is forever engrained in history as The King’s birthday and each year we pay tribute with a flavor composed of his favorite things: bacon, bananas, and peanut butter. This year, we’ve whipped up a lightly spiced banana custard ice cream with chunks of peanut butter bacon cookie dough, finished with a swirl of marionberry jam. You can’t help falling in love with this flavor!
· Santa Barbara Pistachio Spumoni
They say eating green foods around New Year will bring good luck. Or, it’s a jump start on the classic New Year’s resolution of eating healthier. Whichever you prefer to indulge in, we have you covered with our own green goods from the Santa Barbara Pistachio Co. Our candied pistachios are made with sugar and vanilla, then blended with pistachio oil into a sweet praline butter that is then churned into a silky ice cream. We layer chocolate from Portland’s Pitch Dark in a stracciatella inspired manner for a subtle cocoa crunch. And to top it all off, candied pistachios and luxardo cherries provide the perfect sweet finish!
· Meyer Lemon Meringue Pie
This flavor brings with it an air of nostalgia for the traditional lemon meringue pie. We upgrade ours with Nilla wafer ice cream, made with the classic cookie roasted to golden brown perfection and steeped in cream, filled with housemade meyer lemon curd and gooey marshmallow fluff. Who can resist the best of both worlds – pie in a cone!
· Candied Clementine Almond Cake
Taking full advantage of the ripe California Clementine’s in January, we took a page from French cuisine with its candied orange approach, traditionally made by pricking a tangerine with a pin and placing it in refreshed sugar syrup every few days until the fruit is translucent. We did the same with our Clementine’s to highlight the zesty sweetness of the fruit. These pieces are then stirred in a toasted almond ice cream with chunks of olive oil almond cake for an unforgettable combination of texture and flavor!
· Grapefruit Champagne Sorbet (v)
The holiday parties don’t have to end in December! This black-tie cocktail party in a cone is inspired by New Year’s Eve champagne that we are prolonging throughout all of January. We are combining local grapefruits with sparkling wine from Temecula’s South Coast Winery for a fruity, fizzy, and dairy free delicacy! This upscale flavor also has notes of juniper, cardamom, lavender, sarsaparilla, coriander, anise, and dried sweet orange peels for a gourmet taste appropriate even for the most glamorous occasion!
