It’s been a bumpy road for plus-size women in finding clothes that not only fit their curvy selves but also are ‘on trend’ and/or offer a chic style. It’s not easy trying to find an outfit that reflects your style and looks good on your body. It’s even harder for girls with serious curves AKA plus size. I hate that term but it’s the only one that is descriptive without being incredibly rude. Finding clothes to reflect my unique sense of style was never easy. I was not shy about taking risks and engineered some creative looks over the years. As I grew in age and size shopping became more challenging. The offerings for a curvier woman were limited, unoriginal and dated. I realized as a plus-sized woman I was overlooked and underrepresented by the fashion industry which was very frustrating. From that frustration, a fashion heroine was born.
“PYNKIE BROWN!” a super-designer whose creative apparel embodies her unique sense of style while giving the curvier woman another alternative in fashion.
Who is Pynkie Brown?
She is my alter ego. By day I am mild mannered Schynthia Johnson working hard to get through life. On my “fabu-licious” days, I am femme fatale Pynkie Brown conquering the fashion world one bell bottom at a time. She represents a woman who is unafraid and unapologetic. She evokes the glory of her 70’s predecessors by being bold, dynamic, classy, and fearless. These qualities are essential when taking on the fashion industry. Every woman should embrace that alter ego who represents a better version of themselves. I keep this thought in mind when designing my clothes. Pynkie Brown Designs signifies great style and a certain confidence to be boldly unique. My ultimate goal is to provide women of all sizes and shapes fashion that will ignite their own Pynkie Brown spirit!
