We all have it – the desire to feel like a golden goddess. Laurel Dewitt makes that happen with her regal, weaving metallic creations that resemble individual pieces of artwork. Dewitt is an artist, designer, and visionary who designs metal apparel, handbags and accessories inspired by global regalia. Dewitt’s designs are a flawless blend of true craftsmanship with a bohemian flair that has been made possible through her passion for metallic.
The Laurel Dewitt collection shined bright at LAFW SS/2017 www.lafw.net/. Her exclusive show took place at the W Hotel in Hollywood on a recent spring evening. Her designs were dreamy that made a strong statement of feminine power. Dewitt is definitive in her work and the LD collection is a brand that represents women who know exactly what they want.
The audience was mesmerized with the intricate details of her apparel, crowns, and accessories. Dewitt lit the night with apparel and accessories that showcased denim jackets, thigh-high slickers, latex body suits, capes, and paillette and chain gowns all emblazoned with alloy applique. Up close, the Dewitt collection is magical and it’s quite easy to get swept up. It might look effortless (the key), however; the work, detail, and dedication consist of countless hours of creating.

Dewitt has created a niche within the fashion world like no other. In every way, Laurel DeWitt is an artist and sculpting elaborate crowns and headdresses is her true passion. Her trademarked goddess logo is fashioned after the first crown she created, which was featured in the Smithsonian Institute of African Art. She is a graduate of the Pratt Institute and is based in Brooklyn.
Star Power
Laurel DeWitt built her brand by redefining the distinction between clothing and accessories. Beyonce was adorned in one of her captivating crowns in the video for Coldplay’s “Hymn For The Weekend.” (See below)
Another DeWitt masterpiece drapes the Nicki Minaj wax figure in Las Vegas’ Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. Her stunning yet wearable creations have been admired throughout the industry.
Handbags
Laurel DeWitt has recently launched her own handbag line featuring totes, satchels, cross-bodys, hobos, and metal evening bags—each adorned with her trademarked goddess logo with embellishments on the outside and signature chain-print satin on the inside.
Laurel Dewitt is an immensely talented designer and I was honored to attend the show. Besides being beautiful, her designs convey a strong feminine message. However, I do believe best is yet to come. To learn more:
