I know it’s Cinco de Mayo and maybe you are just now thinking about that. Here in Southern California, parties and celebrations will be happening through the weekend. It’s just what life is like in greater Los Angeles. This post features two things: small bites and snacks utilizing R.W. Garcia products and a great cocktail recipe with Mezcal Alacran. I am starting with food first because you need to eat something before you tackle this cocktail! Trust me on this!
Here’s what I would suggest for the “food”:

Jalapeño Chevre Tower What you’ll need: x RW Garcia Sweet Potato Crackers x Crumbled goat cheese x Jalapeño slices (or Jalapeno jelly) x Red, orange and yellow bell peppers x Cucumber x Cilantro How to assemble: x Use a Julienne peeler to create thin strips of cucumber and bell pepper. They should look like curly holiday bows. x Chop jalapeños into rounds (remove seeds less heat is desired) x Starting with a Sweet Potato cracker base, add a tablespoon of goat cheese x Add a jalapeño round or jalapeño jelly x Top with cucumber and bell pepper strips x Garnish with chopped cilantro
RW Garcia is one of my personal favorite brands. RW Garcia products are gluten-free and all natural. Nothing artificial in them. I found the brand at Natural Products Expo West a couple of years ago and I stay on top of this brand of great chips and crackers. They are delish.
Chips and salsa: Do buy the best salsa you can find or feel free to dress up a bottle that you already have with chopped celery, green onions and other ingredients that make it indelibly your personal recipe.

Jalapeño Chevre Tower
What you’ll need:
—RW Garcia Sweet Potato Crackers
— Crumbled goat cheese
— Jalapeño slices (or Jalapeno jelly)
— Red, orange and yellow bell peppers
— Cucumber
— Cilantro
How to assemble:

Super easy to assemble, it looks much more complicated than it really is. It also pairs perfectly with the Mezcal Alacran cocktail that I have selected!
From the Alacran family of spirits, here is a terrific recipe that is a spin on the traditional Bloody Mary but with more zest, zip and kick!
BLOODY ALACRAN COCKTAIL
INGREDIENTS
45 ml Mezcal Alacran
1 part lemon juice
3 parts organic tomato juice
A dash of Worcestershire and Tabasco sauce
** Skip the Tabasco and use Gringo Bandito Hot Sauces (Green, Red and SUPER-HOT) Find it on Amazon.com and a local mass supermarket near you!
The zip from any of the sauces make such a difference and will set off the Mezcal Alacran really well!
Ice Cubes
PREPARATION
Mix all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker.
Serve and fill with ice. Add a pinch of seat salt and fresh black pepper.
Rim with salt and garnish with Bacon and lime.
