Suerte Tequila might be a new brand to you. It was to me when I heard about it maybe a week ago! Here’s the story behind the brand:
Founded by two friends and tequila fans from Boulder and a master distiller in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, Suerte offers single-distillery tequilas produced with traditional methods. By slow–roasting and crushing agave with a tahona, Suerte creates four unique tequilas: Blanco, Reposado, Añejo and Extra Añejo.
The family-run distillery is located in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico where the distillery provides tequila to Suerte and only Suerte. There are only eight tequila brands in the US that have an exclusive agave source. Suerte uses 100% blue agave, similar to other top brands. The rest of the manufacturing process is rather unique. Suerte uses a traditional brick oven to slow roast the agave (rather than pressure cookers or steamers) and a tahona to press the agave to release the sugars (rather than shredders). This process takes more time, but it helps to retain the flavor of the agave and adds to the quality of the product.
Suerte Tequila co-founders, Laurence Spiewak & Lance Sokol, and Master Distiller, Pedro Hernandez Barba explain the story of their brand and the process that’s used to produce it.
Suerte Tequila is built on the concept of luck and care: luck in finding the right agave (which they found)- and the care that the founders have put into creating a brand that is built on the best quality ingredients and time to create a premium tequila!

Suerte Tequila
The single estate tequila brand, founded in Boulder in 2012, uses traditional distilling process (100% Tahona crushed), and offers a fantastic taste at a competitive price point. The Extra Añejo ($109.99), Añejo ($49.99) and Reposado ($35.99) are aged in charred American White Oak whiskey barrels for seven years, two years and eight months, respectively. The Blanco ($29.99) is rested for a minimum of two months prior to bottling.
