Oman House Opens It’s Doors to Marie Bargas and Friends!

In cinematic terms, an evening at the Oman House is like being in the minds of Fellini and Rob Zombie with a twist of Vincent Price in Hammer’s Masque of the Red Death. Through the years, the Oman House has evolved into a supernatural slice of American Pie boasting six major paranormal shows, tons of radio, books, blogs and a soon to be released documentary filmed by the Dave Oman himself.
The question to ask (and have answered is) Who is this ever-changing enigma known as Dave Oman?

Some people love him, some people hate him … but no one has ever forgotten Dave Oman because he leaves an indelible impression. He eschews the term divine with a shrug but embraces the moniker of “madman” with a combo of gusto and delight. You alternate by loving his wicked charm, hating his largesse and finally realizing that this chaotic windstorm of a man is his version of unedited authenticity and that’s a second skin that he wears with comfort and pride. There is no artifice, but a sometimes overwhelming personality, like Belasco in the classic Hell House. He is less of a tour guide and more of an heir to Vincent Price guiding guest through a modern house of horrors with a damn fine collection of art and sports memorabilia. But this is not a creaky old mansion tucked away in a backwoods horror movie. This is a modern mini-mansion that shares a notorious hill where Manson’s cult brought the art and culture of the 60’s to an abrupt end.
In a popular documentary, Judy Tate is quoted as saying, “Charles Manson claimed that he made Sharon famous.” But we all know that’s a lie. Her untimely demise before the peak of a promising career earned him a place in history, but he is about as well-loved as Hitler. Many of us imagine them in Hell getting spikey pineapples rammed up their nether regions throughout eternity… when Manson and his followers finally leave this plane. There is no doubt in my mind that he would rather stay and haunt his old cell, rather than face whatever and whoever is waiting for him in the afterlife. I believe that is why so many of his victims have stayed … to wait for the man who engineered their deaths to make sure he finds his place in Hell.
But that’s a personal opinion.
I’m a Kubrick fan, so the decor brought me back to the 60’s dystopian world of Clockwork Orange and I could picture that bit of reultra-violence violence” that occurred a few hundred feet away at the top of the hill.
