YES, it’s that time year and the Academy Awards clock is ticking down to the wire! Just in case you planned on watching the Oscars with Jimmy Kimmel (who I adore!) you need a cocktail. If you are planning on watching the pre-show AKA the red carpet that everyone strolls down, then you might need a couple of cocktails to celebrate all the fashion.
Better yet, invite friends over and tell them to bring a platter of savory or sweet small bites (even Girl Scout Cookies would do. I highly recommend the Toffee/Shortbread cookies because they are insanely good!) while you provide a cocktail fixings.
No matter if it’s a room full of friends or just you, here are two cocktail recipes that you should test drive. These sound extraordinary
The Golden Age
Ingredients:
4 ounces – Four Roses Bourbon
4 ounces – ginger beer (try to find Brooklyn Crafted Ginger Beer. Absolutely the bomb!! It’s amazing!)
Method:
Using a lowball glass or a tall highball glass, add ice to fill,
Pour the bourbon in first.
Pour ginger beer next and stir till mixed.
Garnish with lime wedge
The Silverscreen
Ingredients:
4 ounces – Nemiroff Original Vodka
4 ounces – Tonic water
1 lemon slice
1 sprig of rosemary
Garnished with Juniper berries
Method:
Using a lowball glass or a tall highball glass, add ice to fill,
Pour the vodka in first.
Pour tonic water next and stir a couple of times.
Squeeze the lemon slice into the mix, add a sprig or rosemary and stir it as well
Garnish with juniper berries or the rosemary -whichever is easier to find!
These cocktails are pretty easy to mix up. The key elements are the spirits!
