You may be wondering what this day is all about? Well, it’s a day designed to encourage all men to take pride in how they look. There’s often a taboo associated with men who want to look good by using hair care products or skin care cosmetics. But on August 17th, it’s a day to forget about all of that and celebrate.
1. Dress to Impress
One of the first things someone will notice about you is the attire you wear. When it comes to men’s shoes and clothing, it’s always best to opt for something that you feel comfortable in. Whether you’re going for the smart or casual look, or somewhere in between, choosing the right shoes to go with your outfit is a must. A great choice for something more casual is either a pair of slip-on loafers or chukka boots, while a more formal outfit may require something like a pair of brogues or Chelsea boots.
2. Take Good Care of Your Skin
There’s nothing better than a good skin care routine. Though men may traditionally keep it quite simple, spending time washing and cleansing your skin is a great way to achieve a more youthful, radiant and attractive appearance. One of the most important things to think about is your skin type. If you have dry skin, you’re going to use different treatments and products to those who have oily skin. Using an exfoliator will help to remove dead skin cells while a moisturiser will keep your skin nourished. These are the two must-haves to include as part of your daily routine.
3. Your Hair Matters
As a man, it’s important to make sure you don’t over-wash your hair. While in the bath or shower, you may be tempted to let your head fall back into the water, but it’s best not wash it every day. And if you find your hair doesn’t feel clean enough after washing it, shampoo it twice before using conditioner. Once washed, dry gently and don’t use too much heat. Another thing to be aware of is how much product you’re using.
4. To Beard or Not to Beard
Recent surveys have suggested that almost half of women would not be attracted to men who had out-of-control facial hair. Men often use beards to showcase their individual style, whether it be cropped stubble or long, wizard-like fuzz. Whatever – or however much – beard you opt for, it’s important to remember to keep it clean and under control.

5. Having a Signature Scent
Ask any woman, and she’ll say the exact same thing: ‘there’s nothing better than a man who smells great’. By combining a good deodorant with a subtle aftershave, you’re sure to grab the ladies’ attention. You don’t want to stop people in their tracks by wearing something overpowering, instead, you want the scent to be something that’s part of your overall presence. Find 2-3 good-quality bottles of aftershave that you like and stick with these. Whether you prefer something musky and woody or light and citrusy, there’ll be aftershave out there that has your name on it!
