We just had a 3-day weekend and it didn’t quite feel long enough to me. Did it to you? I don’t think so- particularly in light of the terrible weather across the country. Here in LA, we had rain across the LA basin and there was SNOW in the local mountains —in MAY!  Talk about a shocking weather report.  One can bundle up to have a bbq but going swimming or hitting the beach just doesn’t work when the weather is that cool.


Here are some great cocktails with “good-for-you” ingredients that will be surprisingly tasty.. and a great sip whether it’s with dinner or by the pool this coming weekend.  These recipes are courtesy of Liana  Werner-Gray.

1. Cucumber Lime Cocktail:
2 cups fresh pineapple,
4 celery stalks,
2 cucumbers peeled,
1 lime peeled,
2-4 oz of tequila
Juice the pineapple, celery, cucumber, and lime in a juice machine,
pour into your cocktail glass,
stir in the tequila
Tips: Garnish the rim with coconut sugar and a lime slice



2. Tequila Kombucha Cocktail
16 oz Kombucha,
2 oz tequila or vodka
Combine all ingredients into a shaker with ice,
cover and shake vigorously until chilled,
Strain  into a cocktail glass.
Tips: Slice up some fruit like strawberries and add it to your cocktail.
It adds extra flavor, fizzles in the drink and makes a fun snack after!



 Classic Margarita
2 oz of tequila,
2 tbsp. coconut sugar or agave,
1 lime,
1 tsp salt
Cut the lime and use its edges to moisten the rim of the glass.
Dip edges of the glass in a plate of salt and set aside.
Squeeze the lime juice into a shaker cup with ice,
add the rest of the ingredients, shake well, then serve over ice.

Tip: Add blended fresh fruit like strawberries, orange, grapefruit or tangerines for a sweeter margarita.
To make a pitcher, quadruple all the ingredients.
