While I missed that one day, we can celebrate National Bourbon Day today, tomorrow or whenever you choose. I have the pleasure of sharing 3 cocktail recipes featuring Duke Spirits Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Cheers to one of the nation’s most popular spirits! Duke’s Bourbon was created as an ode to John Wayne and was specially crafted from his handwritten notes.
The bold bourbon opens with subtle charred oak, roasted nuts, and hints of vanilla, caramel, and nutmeg. Mid-palate provides warm pepper spice and toasted nuts, finishing with a robust sweetness. These tasting notes pair perfectly in their JW Old Fashioned and is the best way to celebrate one of America’s favorite cocktails: the JW Old Fashioned.
JW Old Fashioned
INGREDIENTS:
2 oz of Duke Spirits Kentucky Straight Bourbon
1 Demerara sugar cube
2 dashes Angostura orange bitters
1 dash Angostura aromatic bitters
1/4 oz club soda
Garnish with an orange twist.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Muddle the sugar cube with club soda and bitters,
Add Duke Kentucky Straight Bourbon and stir with ice.
Strain into a rock glass with one large ice cube.
Gunsmoke:
Ingredients:
1½ Duke Bourbon
¾ oz Fresh Bayleaf Syrup
¾ oz Yuzu Lemon Blend
¾ oz Aquafaba
2 Dashes Elemakule Tiki Bitters
Instructions:
Dry shake all ingredients then add ice and shake vigorously then strain into a small coupe.
Place the cocktail under a glass cloche and fill the cloche with cherrywood smoke from a smoking gun.
Let sit for 30 seconds, then enjoy.
Roughneck Colada:
Ingredients:
1 oz Duke Bourbon
2. ½ oz Atlantico Reserva
3. ½ oz Fresh Lime Juice
4. ½ oz Coconut Cream
5. ½ oz Orange Juice
6. 1 oz Pineapple Juice
7. 8-10 Leaves of Fresh Mint
8. ½ oz Float of Fernet Branca
9. Garnish: Fresh Pineapple, Amarena Cherry, Mint Sprig
Instructions:
Roll mint and drop into an empty Collins glass,
Top with crushed ice, shake 1-6 with ice<
Strain over the crushed ice, then top with Fernet Branca.
