Celebrate Bastille Day with  Commanderie de Peyrassol Cuvée de la Commanderie- Rose’ 2018!

 Happy Bastille Day !

This piece is running before Bastille Day and I hope that you will partake in the celebration of the French revolutionaries stormed the Bastille (fortress) – the symbol of the monarchy and political oppression in Paris. One year later, the revolutionaries founded the Republic and started France down the path to democracy!

How does one celebrate this great French holiday? With a great bottle of French wine and one that I would suggest would be Peyrassol’s Cuvée de la Commanderie- Rose’ 2018!

 Disclosure:
I was sent a bottle of this wine for me to review.  I  greatly appreciate that they were willing to send me one. A review is dependent on me getting product to review. While the only thing that typically stops me from writing a review is not getting the product, a positive review is never guaranteed.  That I got the product means I can tell you honestly if I like the product of not.

Standing above the village of Flassans-sur-Isole, in the heart of the hills of the Var, the Commanderie de Peyrassol was founded in the 13th century by the Knights Templar.

This great expanse of fertile soil was a popular staging post and a place of rest for large numbers of pilgrims setting off for the Holy Land. As one of the jewels of Provence, the Domaine has always maintained its agricultural and winegrowing traditions.

In the heart of Provence, nestling in the foothills of the Massif des Maures, the Commanderie de Peyrassol is one of the most highly regarded domaines of the AOC Côtes de Provence appellation. Its exceptional location, its centuries-old history and the quality of its wines all contribute to its undisputed status.

 The vineyards

You can see the wealth of the land by the open expanse of the land as well as the variations of green across the vineyards and landscapes.  Great wines come from this land.

One of the vineyards with a  piece of artwork. This is just one of the 50+ pieces of artwork on the Chateau’s property.  The range of artwork is phenomenal!

My suggestion for wine is the Cuvée de la Commanderie- Rose’ 2018!

 Here’s a description:

An elevated blend of classic grapes—cinsault-dominant, but tempered by the Rhône’s G-S-M (and just a hint of rolle), it shows a classic Provençal style without sacrificing depth of flavor or nuance. Well-balanced acid makes it an excellent complement to many dishes—whether it’s escargot or hamburgers on the grill.

This gorgeous Rosé is definitely worth the $$  to celebrate Bastille Day as well as to be able to sip this one all summer long.

REVIEW:

I am a huge Rosé fan! I love the light texture and how it seems to be so light yet full of fruity flavors that linger on the tongue. The fruit flavors are clear but it’s not overly sweet.  It’s crisp with a clean flavor on the palette and it’s has a great mouth feel. It’s flavorful but not overwhelming.  It feels like a summer celebration. I love Peyrassol’s Cuvée de la Commanderie- Rose’ 2018!  and I will be buying this again– and at $20 , it’s a bargain.

Thanks to Peter  Lane and to Commanderie de Peyrassol for the images, information and most important, for the incredible bottle of wine!
