Labor Day and the end of summer is fast approaching for most of the nation. (Here in California, it’s back-to-school time but we still have an extended summer to get through with lots of hot weather like we have today). One of my favorite holidays is Labor Day because it’s a huge celebration that revolves around get-aways, BBQs and parties. It should be no surprise that I am sharing cocktails for Labor Day with you. In fact, you should expect to see a slew of cocktails through at least next Saturday or Sunday!
I am sharing some great spirits with recipes that you can test drive in advance of the holiday weekend! Not only does it give you the opportunity to do some spirits shopping in advance of the holiday, but it might just get you to decide to have a BBQ or party!
I love vodka. It makes for nice easy to mix drinks. However, if you want a really good drink, you need a great vodka–like the Nemiroff Vodka I am featuring here.

Simple to make and tastes FABULOUS– perfect for any summer day ( or if you want to think it’s summer!)
Ingredients:
1.3 oz. Clyde May’s Alabama Whiskey
4 oz. Lemonade
1 slice lemon
Method:
Pour whiskey into a tall glass,
Add lemonade and fill with ice.
Garnish with a slice of lemon.

Peach Rose
The official cocktail of Four Roses Bourbon 130th Anniversary mingles peach, lemon, ginger beer and basil with Four Roses Single Barrel. (And it’s super yummy!)
1 l oz. Four Roses Single Barrel
l slice of peach
¾ fl oz. Simple Syrup
¾ fl oz. Lemon Juice
1 fl oz. Pimms®
Splash Ginger Beer
Method:
Muddle peach with simple syrup and lemon,
Add the Pimms® and Four Roses Single Barrel.
Shake over ice and strain into a mason jar.
Add pebble ice and splash with ginger beer.
Garnish with lemon rind and fresh basil.
