Souping It Up with Skinny Souping! A Review of ALL Six Flavors! Get It While It’s Hot!

I recently posted an article about this hot new line of soups created by Alison Velazquez called Skinny Souping! This is a  collection of vegan soups that are rich with flavor courtesy of a unique blend of veggies for each flavor providing lots of nutrients and tons of flavor. I was very curious about this brand because the soups are low calorie and are all made from a variety of veggies. Sounds healthy, but does it taste good?  That’s what this post is about– a review of each of the six soups!

Please note that the review is based on my reaction and also that of my husband to these soups. He’s not a big fan of lots of spices, and he’s picky about soups he will eat.  The review is based mostly on my reactions/tastebuds -with a bit of my husband’s take too.  It doesn’t mean that you won’t love the soup that I might not like. Or that you would love the soup that I am loving.
The review is a personal thing.

Skinny Souping is available in six varieties: Stevie’s Review of ALL SIX Flavors!

Butternut Squash Coconut Curry:

Get a real kick out of your lunch with our Butternut Squash Coconut Curry soup. Nothing like a mix of serrano peppers, cilantro, and lime to flavor your day!

REVIEW:
This was an interesting flavor. I am not a fan of curry spices. It’s very much not my cup of tea– or soup.  WAIT!!  That was before I tried this soup.
I love butternut squash and I love coconut. I  found that those 2 flavors make the curry more palatable in my opinion. I was really surprised that after 1 spoonful, that I kept going.
I heated up the jar a bit more and had a small bowlful– the ONLY soup that I  did eat a lot more of. I LOVE this flavor. It’s rich, very tangy, a bit spicy but it tastes  so good.

Tomato and Ancient Grains:

Nothing beats the taste of classic tomato soup, except for when you blend it perfectly with our favorite grains.

REVIEW:

This was the first soup my husband and I tried when we got the samples. I like this one a lot. It’s a tasty tomato soup that has a lovely texture and it has a mix of
ancient grains mixed in. The grains provide texture and the tomato has all the flavor and spices. It’s absolutely YUMMY!

Broccoli Lemon Arugula:

Delicious, light, and filling, this broccoli and arugula soup provides fiber and flavor to keep you satisfied in your day!

REVIEW:
This was my least favorite soup. I like broccoli. I love lemons and lemon flavors, and I am ok with arugula. (I eat it on pizza and in salads). This soup needs a bit of a boost
in texture and flavor.  I like the lemon a lot but it is the primary flavor coming through. For those who hate broccoli, this soup would be ok with you because it only tastes of
broccoli as a sort of an afterthought. I think if I added pasta or rice to this and added some salsa, that would make a big difference.  My husband wasn’t fond of this one either.
I will play with this one a bit more to see what spices I can add to this soup to make it have a bolder flavor.
(I am not saying this is a terrible flavor in general -but only to my tastebuds. You might love it!)

Carrot Lentil Turmeric:

Carrot, lentils, turmeric, Oh My! This Carrot Lentil soup is a perfect blend of spice from the turmeric and the sweetness of the carrots. Plus the protein-packed benefits of lentils!

REVIEW:
I liked this soup too. The Tumeric is a bold flavor and it definitely comes across. I am not a Tumeric fan at all, but I do love carrots and I like lentils. It’s got potential and I think if I added a few more carrots and maybe some additional spice, I could fall in love with this soup.  My husband doesn’t like Tumeric at all. He’s not a lentil fan like I am — so it’s all mine to play with.

Spicy Super Greens:

Our Spicy Super Greens will pack your lunch with so much flavor and veggies, you won’t know what hit you! It is a great way to super pack your lunch with all the veggies you want and need for an energizing day.

REVIEW:

I like zucchini, spinach, parsley and all these other veggies (though kale is not my favorite), this blend makes me smile because the spice mix gives the soup a kick and the carrots and other
veggies make it all work together. Consider this a synergistic soup because it’s much more than  the individual veggies, the blend makes it pop!

Red Pepper Chickpea Basil:
This protein-packed soup will keep you full, focused, and satisfied throughout your day. Nothing like tomato and basil to satisfy your hunger

REVIEW:
This is a great soup. I don’t “love” chickpeas but I do eat them in various dishes.  The red peppers are sweet but not overly so. The basil balances out the flavor profile and it’s a great soup.
The chickpeas add texture and I love this soup. So did my husband.  It’s almost like the Tomato with Ancient grains but with a unique texture. It’s a winner in my book!
