My husband and I watch a lot of streaming content. Who doesn’t these days?! It’s hard to stay at home and not turn on the TV. We have been making a list of various series we wanted to binge-watch. Rarely do we find a movie that truly captures our attention (unless it has Marvel, Disney, ‘Star Wars’, ‘Star Trek’, ‘Indiana Jones’, ‘Fast & the Furious’, or ‘Harry Potter’ in the title). The biggest problem is finding a movie that we both want to see– and this past weekend we watched a really great movie on Netflix entitled PROJECT POWER!
Project Power is a very interesting movie set in New Orleans in present times. Here’s the description from Netflix:

Synopsis:
What would you risk for five minutes of pure power?
On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it.
While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk-taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.
The pills are good for 5 minutes and give a person the power of superheroes. The problem is that for some people, the pill makes them explode (literally) or the power that they get kills the person who has taken it as a result.
While the reviews are mixed, the response from my husband and what my thoughts were about this movie was that I would love to watch it again because it kept me glued to my couch when I should have been working on my computer. It’s a very interesting movie and I found it very engaging. My guy doesn’t typically pay attention to actors (and he didn’t know it was Jamie Foxx), but I looked at him in one scene and knew it was Jamie Foxx.
FOXX did a lot of stunts as did Gordon-Levitt and they pulled this off pretty nicely. I was fascinated with the special effects, they were so great!
This one is worth watching and you might find that – like me- you want to see it again. Wish I could have seen this on the big screen but considering the current situation, I am happy at saw it at home too.
I loved Jamie Foxx’s performance, Dominique Fishback’s performance was very detailed and Joseph Gordon-Levitt had me believing he was a cop.
Definitely a movie I will see at least a couple times more!
