Celebrate Labor Day with an Array of Cocktails! Scotch, Tequila, Gin, Brandy, Scotch and MORE!

Labor Day is a great holiday as it signals the end of summer. In California, it’s about the beginning of Indian Summer which currently is very much at full steam because the temperatures range from 90 degrees to 115! It’s not particularly fun to be out in this kind of heat, but a good cocktail will always bring down the temperature as you sip it slowly.

I have such an amazing array of cocktails – each featuring a different spirit!

NOLET’s Gin

NOLET’S SILVER Watermelon Mint Slushy


INGREDIENTS:

1 cup NOLET’S Silver

1 Fresh Watermelon Cubed (reserving some for garnish)

Limes – 2 for Syrup and more for garnish

Mint for garnish

Optional Black Sesame Seeds for Garnish

METHOD:

Cut a large watermelon into ice cube sized chunks (approx. 1 1/2 inches).
Place cubes on a parchment or waxed paper-lined tray spaced apart and freeze for 2 hours or just until frozen.
If you’re not using them for a while, put cubes in an airtight container & store in the freezer.

Mint Lime Syrup
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup Sugar
1/4 cup Fresh Lime Juice (juice of about 2 limes)
1 bunch of Fresh Mint
3/4 cup Water

METHOD:
Combine ingredients in a medium saucepan and heat on medium until sugar dissolves.
Let sit while cooling.
Once cooled, strain into a container with a lid and refrigerate.


ASSEMBLING THE COCKTAIL:

For the cocktails, add watermelon chunks to the blender with 1/2 cup of syrup (the amount should be approximately 6 cups).
Blend until the consistency is that of a slushy.
Add NOLET’S Silver Gin, pour and garnish with watermelon, mint and a sprinkle of black sesame seeds.

 

 

Jagermeister and  Maui Brewing Company

 

Deer + Beer

 

INGREDIENTS:

Maui Brewing Co. Pineapple Mana Wheat

1.oz Jagermeister

METHOD:

Pair your Maui Brewing Co. Pineapple Mana Wheat with a shot of Jägermeister

 

Argonaut Fat Thumb Brandy

 

Gold Rush

 

INGREDIENTS:

2 oz. Argonaut Fat Thumb Brandy

.75 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice

.75 oz. Honey Syrup*

*Honey Syrup:
Take two parts raw honey and 1 part warm water.
Stir to combine.

 

Method:
Measure out all ingredients in a glass and stir to combine.

 

PATRÓN Tequilas –(2 different types)

 


BBQ Smoked Margarita

 

INGREDIENTS:
1.5 oz PATRÓN Reposado

.5 oz PATRÓN Citrónge Lime

.5 oz Lime juice

.5 oz Agave syrup

3 drops Liquid Smoke

1:1 BBQ rub & salt rim

Method:
In a shaker tin with ice, add all ingredients and shake to chill.
Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass.
Garnish with a lime wheel and BBQ rub & salt rim.

 

 

The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old

 

The Macallan Speyside Sipper

 

INGREDIENTS:
1 ½ oz The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old

½ oz Membrillo*

¼ oz Lime juice

3 oz Sprite’s Delight Tea

1 oz Grapefruit juice

Method:

Dissolve ½ oz Membrillo into Sprite’s Delight Tea,
Mix the Macallan Double Cask (12 years old) with the Sprite’s Delight Tea/Membrillo
Add 1 oz Fresh grapefruit and .25 oz lime.
Serve tall over ice in a highball glass
Garnish with membrillo slice

Membrillo is a Spanish paste made from quince fruit.
